Kane99 Posted July 3, 2025 Posted July 3, 2025 The "Stop Killing Games" movement has been blowing up as of late and it seems their petition has reached over 1 million signatures. They consider themselves a consumer movement, and intend to challenge the legality publishers have when destroying their games. I think consumers just want to be able to play it on their own. If they need to put up their own servers for the game, allow them to do so. It's not hurting anything to keep these games alive. Also, I think we need to preserve those single player games that require an online connection, because what happens if those games servers go offline or support is dropped. That game essentially becomes useless. If these publishers have no use for these games anymore, let the gamers take control of them, open it up to consumers to set up their own servers. EA has even allowed gamers to modify their older games to bring them back to life, so I don't know why publishers can't allow this for other online games. This petition is only for the UK, but since it reached the 1 million signatures, the UK government will take a look into it I guess. So that's got to be good.
