You might remember back in 2020 when we posted about a rumor that stated that an announcement about the next Grand Theft Auto game was years in the future. Well, time has passed, and it is now two years later. We would say that 2020 feels like yesterday, but in the context of Grand Theft Auto, that is hardly true. Gamers are dying for some kind of concrete news. Could 2022 be the year we finally get the long-awaited GTA 6 announcement? Possibly, going by what a GTA insider claims.
Could Rockstar Make a GTA 6 Announcement Soon?
The latest rumor about an announcement comes from GTA Forums. GTA insider TezFunz2 posted, “Since we are going into 2022, the new year is pretty much a given for the announcement of the next title. Going by Rockstar’s pattern with major titles, a release is expected a year after.”
Should we believe the rumor? Could Rockstar make a GTA 6 announcement in 2022, and give us the game as soon as 2023? There is no reason why it would not be possible. Plus, in the past, TezFunz2 has demonstrated a good enough track record. So, it makes sense to at least consider that it might be true. Just do not forget that we should never confuse rumor with fact. Until Rockstar actually makes the official announcement, we should not get too excited.
Looking to catch up on some past rumors about the next GTA game? There were quite a few we reported on back in 2020. For example, some people believed that “Paradise Isle” would be the setting for GTA 6. Other rumors suggest that Rockstar itself might have unintentionally revealed the game’s setting. There were also rumors that the next GTA game could be a PS5 timed exclusive. You might also want to have a look at a map concept for GTA 6 that became popular with fans. There has also been discussion around virtual reality for GTA 6. At one point, there was even a rumor that more than half of the work developing GTA 6 had been completed. Many of the other rumors revolved around the possibility of incoming announcements which never came.
Is this latest rumor destined to end up in that same pile? Perhaps. But it seems inevitable that an official reveal has to happen eventually.
