Along with the new maps, new weapons, and new operators added today in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 3, Infinity Ward is adding a whole new kind of cosmetic item; Vehicle Skins. Several of these new Season 3 Vehicle Skins are now available to unlock in the Season 3 Battle Pass, while others can be found in the in-game store. They are usable in Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as the Ground War and Spec Ops modes of Modern Warfare.
How Modern Warfare and Warzone Vehicle Skins Work
As of today’s launch of Modern Warfare Season 3, Vehicle Skins are now available as a new type of cosmetic. Skins are available for the ATV, SUV, flatbed truck, and helicopter; all of the different vehicles found in Verdansk, as well as those in Ground War and Spec Ops. Once you acquire and equip one of these new Vehicle Skins, then any time you get into that vehicle during a game, the skin will automatically apply itself to your vehicle. Once you get out of the vehicle, your skin will stay on it, at least until somebody else with their own skin gets in.
Interestingly, this mechanic can help you to identify whether a vehicle has been used by other players in Warzone. After all, if a vehicle has a non-standard skin, then you know that somebody else has used it… and could be nearby. At present, a variety of skins are available in the Season 3 Battle Pass, and others can be found in the store. More are expected to come later in the season too.
The only Vehicle Skin which Activision has thus far chosen to highlight is the “From the Pit” Epic Rover skin. Available as a tier reward for Tier 26 of the Season 3 Battle Pass, this skin gives all of your Rovers a dusty yellow look (visible in the image above). However, now that Vehicle Skins are available in Modern Warfare, fans should expect Infinity Ward to start adding plenty more.
