When you take on the Novice of Mysteries side quest as part of the Order of Mysteries faction quest-line, the quest proceeds to give you three different objectives. Each of these forms a separate quest of its own, and each involves crafting a particular item. The first is Chasing Shadows, while the second is the Fallout 76 Forging a Legend side quest. This quest requires you to craft the legendary Blade of Bastet.
How to Complete the Fallout 76 Forging a Legend Side Quest
The first thing to do to start the Fallout 76 Forging a Legend quest is to listen to the “Order of Mysteries – Blade of Bastet” Holotape. Just as at the start of Chasing Shadows, you then need to use Cryptos to learn what you need to make the Blade of Bastet. This time, you’ll only need to acquire a single ingredient; a Historic Sword. This can be found at The Whitespring Resort, the game’s version of the real world Greenbrier Resort. This location is north of Riverside Manor, in the Savage Divide.
You can find the Historic Sword in the Presidential Cottage part of the Resort. When you enter this area, look for a protectron, who should have a Presidential Cottage Password in its inventory. The sword itself is in a display case, and you’ll need the password to use a terminal to unlock the case; select the “STAFF ACCESS,” option, then select “Display Case Access,” and the display case will unlock. Inside, you’ll find Grant’s Saber, which is the sword you need. When you return to Riverside Manor, you will be able to produce a new item in the Fabricator; a Swing Analyser. Make one of these, and then use a Weapon Workbench to add it to Grant’s Saber.
Now you need to use the Swing Analyser by killing six enemies. Unfortunately, each of these enemies needs to be a different type. As a result, you will likely have to visit several different locations before you kill enough different enemy types. As the three quests in Novice of Mysteries can be completed in any order, you could do this quest first and then use the sword during the other two. Once you have killed enough enemy types, you can return to Riverside Manor and use the Fabricator to craft the Blade of Bastet.
