Battlefield 5 Combined Arms Mode Launches Tomorrow

Tomorrow will see the launch of the headline feature of Lightning Strikes, the second chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War post-launch content schedule. While the headline feature of Overture was The Last Tiger War Story, and Firestorm is the main feature of Chapter 3, this chapter is introducing a brand-new PvE co-op mode. Playable both solo or with a team of up to 4 players, the Battlefield 5 Combined Arms is set to be one of the game’s biggest new content releases.

Battlefield 5 Combined Arms Mission Types

There are four different types of Combined Arms missions in the new mode, which can be played on different difficulty settings; ranging from easy to hard. Players can choose to play whichever loadouts they want from their existing Company options. Plus, players will earn Company Coin and XP from playing Combined Arms. As such, the mode offers a change of pace for multiplayer fans looking for something new in Battlefield 5.

Battlefield 5 Combined Arms Lets you Use Any Loadouts you Have

The four Battlefield 5 Combined Arms mission types are Assassinate, Eliminate, Destroy, and Steal. In Assassinate, you must find and kill specific enemy soldiers to complete the objective. These individuals will be protected by plenty of other non-target enemies. While Assassinate is precise, Eliminate is more indiscriminate, as the objective is simply to clear all enemies from an area. Destroy requires you to capture a point from enemy soldiers and destroy the enemy artillery set up there. Finally, Steal requires you to loot intel documents from an enemy and escape. Whatever the mission, it ends with an ‘extraction phase’ where you must run to a location. You then have 30 seconds to fortify it before facing waves of enemies for 3 minutes.

Battlefield 5 Combined Arms Maps

Combined Arms takes place on Arras, Hamada, Twisted Steel, and Rotterdam. Unlike the recent Squad Conquest mode, there aren’t any map variants here; you’ll be playing on the standard versions of the maps. Each map has two available missions which you can choose from. Note that you’ll always be playing the Allies and fighting against the Axis, at least for now. Whatever the mission; “You’ll never spawn in the middle of combat and enemies will start in a non-combat state.”

Each individual mission has its own briefing and simple storyline. On Arras, you can choose between Bricks and Mortar (Destroy) or Escape Plan (Assassinate). Hamada offers Desert Declarations (Steal) or Hot Pursuit (Eliminate). In Rotterdam, the options are Harbour Headquarters (Assassinate) or Market Sweep (Eliminate). Finally, in Twisted Steel, you can play either Bridgehead Blockade (Eliminate) or Riverside Guns (Destroy).
