killamch89 Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 I’ve been thinking a lot about Heavenly Sword lately, especially with its strong narrative and unique combat system. While the game got a lot of praise for its visuals and story, it didn't quite get the recognition it deserved for its gameplay depth. The sequel, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, had a similar feel but still didn’t quite hit the mainstream. Do you think the Heavenly Sword franchise could have been more successful if it had more entries, or do you feel its story and concept worked as a one-off?
Scorpion Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Heavenly Sword deserved more recognition for its gameplay depth. A sequel could have expanded its rich world and narrative further.
killamch89 Posted April 25, 2025 Author Posted April 25, 2025 Heavenly Sword feels like the crucial missing link in PlayStation's action game evolution. It bridged the combo-focused combat of God of War with the emotional storytelling that would later define Sony's first-party output. Nariko deserves recognition as a pioneering female protagonist who was complex and flawed rather than simply being a male character in female form.
