Pixel art has become a staple in indie games, often praised for its nostalgic feel and simplicity. But with so many indie titles opting for this style, do you think it’s starting to feel overused? Or do you appreciate its charm and the creativity it allows developers to express within limitations? How do you think pixel art compares to more modern art styles in terms of gameplay experience and visual appeal?

While pixel art's nostalgia and charm are undeniable, I think its versatility and the creative freedom it offers make it timeless, yet not overused in the indie game scene.

I absolutely love the 16-bit era aesthetic, like the SNES and MegaDrive. Games like Sea of Stars look absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.

Pixel art has its charm, but I think it coexists well with other indie styles like hand-drawn art or low-poly 3D. It’s just one way for developers to express themselves. Games like Hollow Knight or Firewatch show that indies can excel in modern styles too, but pixel art has a unique nostalgic pull that those can’t replicate.
