killamch89 Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 Indie games often explore unique gameplay mechanics, art styles, and storytelling that may not appeal to the mainstream. Do you think this makes them better suited for niche audiences, or do they have the potential to reach broader appeal? How do you feel about indie games that cater specifically to a smaller, dedicated fanbase versus those that try to attract more general players?
Scorpion Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 Indie games thrive by embracing creativity, appealing to niche audiences, yet they can attract broader appeal through universal themes and innovation.
killamch89 Posted January 13, 2025 Author Posted January 13, 2025 Indie games that target a smaller fanbase can often foster a deeper sense of community and passion. There’s something special about supporting games made by smaller teams or solo developers, and that niche appeal can make the experience feel more personal. However, some indie games that try to appeal to everyone may dilute their core identity in the process.
Anders Posted January 13, 2025 Posted January 13, 2025 It really depends in my opinion. Some indie games definitely appeal to a niche audience, but then you have games like Minecraft. Developed by one person, but enden up being one of the biggest games of all time. Games like Stardew Valley and Undertale are also enormously popular, though they are also only developed by one person.
