I always want us to talk about it. How do you feel about my future goals. Are you going to be supportive, or would you kick against it. Talking about my goals gives me a bit of confidence, which I so much appreciate.

I've noticed my preference shifts with life circumstances. During periods of uncertainty or transition, reminiscing provides comforting stability and identity reinforcement. When I'm feeling established and secure, future-oriented conversations feel more engaging and generative.
