Shortie
I do believe that if you are passionate about being a musician and you are willing to work hard and not let the tough times get you down, you can become successful as a new artist. If you go into music as a new artist with the thought that you will blow up quickly, that is when you could become discouraged.

If I am asked, the most important thing is to keep grinding and loving what they do. It will take time, but success will always be on the way.
