How can biotech foster a more sustainable and equitable future for society?

With global crises like climate change and food insecurity intensifying, biotech feels like a silver bullet - engineered crops that thrive in drought, microbes that clean polluted water, lab-grown meat to reduce emissions. But can these innovations truly deliver sustainability without widening the gap between haves and have-nots? Who owns the patents on these living solutions, and will marginalized communities benefit? I’m curious: what biotech breakthroughs do you think could redistribute resources more equitably? Are there real-world examples where localized biotech solutions have empowered vulnerable populations?
