How do you feel about the storytelling techniques used in PlayStation RPGs?

Whether it’s the sprawling cinematics of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the branching dialogue in Persona 5, or the diegetic lore in Dark Souls, PlayStation RPGs have experimented wildly with narrative. What storytelling methods resonate most with you? Do you prefer fully voiced cutscenes and optional side-quests filling out worldbuilding, or is environmental storytelling like audio logs, item descriptions, NPC banter your ideal way to uncover the plot? How do pacing, tone shifts, and moral choices affect your immersion? Have you ever felt that a particular technique enhanced emotional investment or, conversely, pulled you out of the experience?

I really appreciate PlayStation RPGs' storytelling techniques. They often feature immersive narratives, deep character development, and emotional moments that draw players in. The rich storytelling creates a memorable experience, making every gameplay feel like a meaningful journey.

Final Fantasy VII Remake's approach to expanding familiar story beats through new character interactions and extended sequences shows how remakes can enhance rather than just retell - getting more time with Avalanche members made their eventual fates hit harder.
