How do you feel about the level of detail in VR game environments?

High-fidelity VR worlds blow my mind, but there’s a balance between polygon counts and performance. How much environmental detail like individually swaying grass blades or dynamically lit shadows is necessary for immersion before diminishing returns kick in? Personally, meticulously modeled interactive objects pull me deeper into VR, whereas static, high-res backdrops feel superficial. Have you encountered experiences where less detail and stronger gameplay design trumped photorealism?

I think the level of detail in VR game environments is impressive and immersive. It really enhances the experience, making worlds feel more realistic and engaging. As technology advances, I look forward to even more detailed and lifelike virtual environments.

There's definitely a sweet spot where stylized, purposeful design with selective high-detail elements works better than trying to make everything photorealistic, which often falls into uncanny valley territory.
