killamch89 Posted June 22, 2025 Posted June 22, 2025 The Nintendo 64 introduced true analog control for both movement and camera, revolutionizing 3D exploration. Many titles experimented with camera behavior, offering freedom or tethered perspectives that shaped immersion. Which N64 game made you appreciate analog camera control? Was it a fixed follow, adjustable free camera, or clever auto-tracking? How did its implementation enhance platforming, puzzle solving, or open-world navigation?
Scorpion Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 It has to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The moment I first used Z-targeting to lock onto an enemy, the world of 3D combat just clicked. Effortlessly strafing around a foe felt revolutionary and truly sold the magic.

For me, Super Mario 64 was revolutionary because the analog camera control let you frame Mario's movements perfectly for complex 3D platforming challenges. Being able to adjust your perspective mid-jump or while exploring environments felt like having complete control over the game world.
