  1. I don't play much in the way of online multiplayer games, so I am kinda indifferent. I love the Last of Us and it's sequel when it comes to the storyline/campaign.

I could see how an online mutiplayer game could be cool if it was massive like Final Fantasy 14. It could have a huge open world with settlements and you could join factions and battle members of other nearby towns and gangs and also have to deal with the random clickers, etc. But I can also see how programming that kind of game would be a monumental undertaking.

  2. Very few. I usually believe in playing it to the end of the main storyline/campaign. However, there are a few that I have gotten frustrated with or that started good but eventually bored me to tears.

Returnal is one of these. You get tired of dying and having to start the game all over. There are no saves.

Persona 5 was another one. I read such rave reviews about this RPG. I dedicated a lot of time to it, and then it just got redundant.

unless I'm misreading this, you keep saying in your own way that you're not interested in the politics of this situation

This is true. I purposely turn a blind eye to politics. My reason for stating that I am not into politics was essentially to draw a distinction between myself and someone like Elon Musk, who does indeed make statements knowing it will have a political implication or response.

This next part goes to you, @Dismal_Bliss and everyone else on this forum. If having your opinion challenged is too much for you to handle, you shouldn't express that opinion at all.

It's not, lol. But none of us like having words put in our mouths or when someone impugns bad motives about us. So when assumptions were made about my 'displaying sympathy' and my disposition that were incorrect, I was moved to set the record straight.

I'm sorry @Dismal_Bliss I took it to a personal level which was unfair.

    I appreciate your apology.

I will say that I can also understand better now why people mocked him over this. My initial thoughts were that I feel bad for the guy, as he can probably never express any personal opinions without it causing a stir and maybe some headlines. But that's what you get when you put yourself in the public spotlight like he has.

I have the highest tier so I also have access to some PS1 and PS2 titles that are on the platform.

Nice. I'm at the mid-tier, PS Plus Extra. I didnt go for the top tier because I was a Nintendo fan and absolutely blind to the 1st and 2nd gen PlayStation games. I have no idea what I would like and there is so much current stuff I want to play anyway.

Wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo comes up with some goofy name instead, since the WiiU wasn't the best name for their Wii successor. (I believe that's one of the reasons why it didn't sell as well.)

This is partially true, I am sure. WiiU was a very stupid name, utterly lazy, lol. It would be like calling the next Switch the "Switched Up", lol.

I have a Wii and really loved it. But when WiiU was out I was on another haitus from video games so I've actually never touched one.

It’s not an addiction to you. It becomes so when you have tasks and activities that you need to get done, but games interfere with them. You find it hard to concentrate on activities during the day, without thinking of the next arcade you want to complete. That right there is addiction.

This would have been me as a kid. I remember ignoring what was going on in class and drawing in my notebook the video game characters from the games I was currently playing.

I can also remember, as a young kid, being so into a boss fight that I was resisting going to the bathroom and wouldn't pause the game to do so. Unfortunately that ended with a shower and a change of clothes.

Yeah, I was addicted then. A bit easy for a kid. Someone should have regulated my game time back in those days.

Elon Musk's preference for certain video games does not necessarily make him a hypocrite. People have different personal boundaries and comfort levels when it comes to violence in media. It's possible that the depiction of shooting cops in GTA VI crossed a line for him, while he may still enjoy other games with violence against different characters or in different contexts.

    Well said 👍

Why are you and Musk hooked on shooting cops in a video game pretending like it's political? It's not the theme of the game. GTA is a crime game. Like mafia games or any other crime game. You shoot cops and anyone in your way.

I'm not into politics. I'm also not into shooting cops. You, me, or Musk should be able to express this freely without some wanker mocking us or calling us names. I understand the elements of the game predates the more recent negative attitudes towards law enforcement.

I'm sure for Musk it was political. For me it was just a moral preference.

You are displaying sympathy towards politicalizing fascist talking points.

This statement has no meaning or relevance. Screw politics. Screw the talking heads. Both sides are lunatics that call the other side fascists so they cancel each other out, lol.

I believe people in your disposition will no doubt accept banning games just like they ban books.

Nobody here is banning books, let alone games. But I appreciate you taking making huge assumptions about what my dispositions may or may not be, lol.

    I've played these 4 above.

I will say that I am interested in Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake now that I've looked into them more. And I am also highly anticipating FF7 Rebirth. I've also been a fan of Street Fighter in the past, as well as Zelda, and since I want to get a PSVR2 soon then maybe the Resident Evil game might be worth a gander.

Baldur's Gate 3 looks cool. Is that game worth it to play as single player?

Good question. I imagine it is just fine as a single player game.

But I heard a while back that the show would delve deeper into what happened before the second game, and may even delve into other storylines to flesh out other characters. So it got me thinking, could the series be a way to tease the 3rd game in the series?

Are you saying the story in the 3rd game would actually take place inbetween Part 1 and Part 2? That would be weird.

I heard that the story told in the 2nd game would probably be split between season 2 and season 3 of the HBO show. That they can't tell the whole Part 2 story within the limit of ten 45-60 minute episodes.

  11. I actually don't know much about him. I stay far far away from political and social issues, so I am usually quite out of touch with any of the big names that make headlines (Trump, Biden, Alex Jones, Elon Musk, whoever). I just keep scrolling to the news sections that actually interest me.

But occasionally someone wants to show me a clip with Alex Jones in it. Usually he's speaking like a crazy mad man and venting about things that either aren't true or aren't worth the effort. I've never seen an Alex Jones clip and thought to myself "seems like a good chap to me" lol!

My first reaction to this article was that it couldn't be true, lol. I wish it wasn't. Then I found the gameplay.

  12. Do you agree with these winners? Have you played any of these games? Will you want to play these games now that they have won an achievement?

And you think that taking small snips of the points we bring up removing them from context is a valuable addition to this discission because?... it is genuinely a stretch to call what you posted a joke.

Oh it's neither a joke nor a "valuable addition" my friend. It was an observation.

I read the back and forth banter between the two of you with great interest. It was a good conversation. At the same time, I simply found it amusing that in the end you are both saying the same thing.

The topic is "How do you feel about video games restrictions for minors?" You both approve of them, feel young kids can be impressionable, and believe parents should take responsibility. You both don't believe the game developers are to blame. You both don't think games should be banned. You both believe mentally unstable or those not mentally developed enough could be influenced to do something stupid.

I just didn't see the point of presenting it like some debate. What were we debating? lol 😄

  14. Well, I don't like the thought of shooting cops either. But at the same time, I play Final Fantasy or other games and fight monsters. Cop aren't monsters.

I think his comment stands just fine on it's own, and it's petty and ridiculous and typical of social media to dig up anything he might have said or done in the past in order to drum up a smear campaign and paint him as a hypocrite. You could technically do this with every human being who puts himself out there in the public sphere.

The take home message, it's a hate filled game... And Elon Musk in another topic on VGR where he played the new GTA 6 and complains about violence against police. So which is it here? We're getting mixed signals from the far righties. Does this incite violence against gays or not? Does another game incite violence against police or not?

Well, it's not black and white.

    Violence against gays in unacceptable.

Violence against police is also unacceptable.

Do these games (or any game) alone incite violence? No, not alone. But they are all pieces of a bigger puzzle.

  16. You two are basically saying the exact same thing and actually agreeing with each other, lol.

  17. I just watched this on Netflix and it was fantastic.

It's actually an Indian film, and the main characters speak Hindi, I believe. You will want to turn on the English Dub AND subtitles because even the Indian accents on the English dub can be hard to understand.

It's basically a period piece, probably pre-1920's India where the English-speaking white British folks are the bad guys. They are occupying India and steal a little girl from a tribe. The tribe has a warrior/protector/guardian who vows to go to Delhi and rescue her. While the story is fictional, this is based on a true historical person. Another historical person is another legendary person who works as a British police officer. These two end up being the best of friends, not realizing they each work for the opposing side.

They have uncanny strength and skills, and the fighting is unrealistic but in a cool "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" kind of way. There's even a musical number in there to boot too, lol.

Imagine if Jean Valjean and Javert from Les Mis were best friends but didn't know eachothers true identity. That's the core of the plot. And it works!

It's 3 hours, but worth it. You will be glued to the screen the whole time.

  18. Avatar Video Game Gets Gorgeous Launch Trailer

    Quote

We may not be getting an Avatar film this year, but the game looks to make up for it.

The day before it drops on PC and console on December 7, developer Ubisoft has released an in-depth story trailer.

Called Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - Making an Authentic Avatar Story, the featurette shows how you’ll explore Pandora in first-person. You play as a Na'vi raised by the human military in a compound, who at the start of the game, enters the colorful wilds of director James Cameron’s creation for his (and your) first time.

From windswept plains filled with alien horses, to dense forests covered in bioluminescent flowers, this is every bit an Avatar experience, with the game doing justice to both films released so far.

  19. Alex Jones' New Video Game Is Somehow Even More Unhinged Than You Could Have Imagined

    Article Source: https://news.yahoo.com/alex-jones-video-game-somehow-145800008.html

    Quote

He guns down a saxophone-playing Bill Clinton, gets followed around by a superhero version of Donald Trump, and frees a bunch of bearded MAGA shirt-wearing men from “Big Tech Jail” guarded by the “Thought Police” while screaming “Let’s free the patriots!”

Basically, it's a low budget ultra right-wing version of Grand Theft Auto from the guy that continues to be an embarrassment to mankind, lol.

  20. Any other Godzilla fans here?

I saw this last Saturday with my son on the big screen. It was quite awesome seeing a modern Godzilla movie made by the classic studio that has been bringing us Godzilla movies for decades. I heard they made it on a $15 million dollar budget but trust me the visuals and the special effects were fantastic!

Even though it's a modern Godzilla movie, it actually takes place in the late 40's in post war Japan. It's sorta like an homage to the original 1954 film
