Kane99 Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 When I was growing up my parents would sometimes rent me a Sega Genesis and some games for the weekend. I specifically remember them asking if I ever wanted to rent the Sega Channel. I never understood what they meant by it, and I don't think they fully understood either. But I never did end up renting it along with the console, because I never had a clue what it did. That was until I got older and realized it was like an online service with the option to play certain games. In a way like gamepass sorta. Did anyone here actually get to try it out? I've always wanted to see what it was like in action. I assume you had to use your phone line to utilize it, and I see there was a monthly fee for it, so I don't know how places like Blockbuster were able to rent it out.
killamch89 Posted February 16, 2024 Posted February 16, 2024 To be honest, I didn't even know this existed. I used to have the Sega Saturn and Genesis and if I had known this was a thing, I'd have asked my parents to rent me some games.
Scorpion Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I never tried the Sega Channel either, but it sounds ahead of its time!
