What’s a movie series that should have stopped sooner?

Some movie franchises just keep going long after they’ve run out of steam. Whether it’s diminishing quality, repetitive plots, or just plain overstaying their welcome, which series do you think should’ve wrapped up earlier? Maybe a trilogy should’ve stayed a standalone or a series that dragged on well past its prime?

When an entry to an entire series has >insert villain< Takes Manhattan, the series has gone on for way too goddamn long. In my opinion, 2 sequels to a movie is fine. But more than that, it has gone too far.

To be fair, I stopped watching after the third movie. I just thought the whole thing was going stale and I was right. With movies like this, using a similar plot point for more than 2 sequels makes it start to feel repetitive.
