killamch89 Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Episodic gaming releases have been a hot topic for a while now. Some players love the anticipation and the ability to digest a game in smaller chunks, while others feel it disrupts immersion and leads to unfinished stories. What’s your take on episodic releases? Do you think they enhance or hurt the overall gaming experience? Are there any games where you think this approach worked well, or do you prefer a full release from the start?
Scorpion Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 I enjoy episodic releases for the anticipation and suspense they create! "Life is Strange" did it well. Full releases can be satisfying too.

Games like The Walking Dead sparked great discussions and fan theories between episodes, which enriched the experience for me. Sure, waiting can be frustrating, but it’s also fun to anticipate and speculate what’s next. If developers stick to a consistent release schedule, I think episodic gaming can actually enhance the experience. The key is balance - delays and cliffhangers only work if the payoff is worth it.
The Blackangel Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 I’m not sure if it counts or not for this topic, but I absolutely LOVE the Dark Pictures Anthology. It’s an amazing collection. Man Of Medan is a great entry.
