killamch89 Posted May 22, 2025 Posted May 22, 2025 Cross-play between iOS, Android, PC, and consoles sounds ideal—but does it live up to expectations? What technical hurdles remain: network code parity, anti-cheat integration, or input balancing? Which games nailed cross-play and fostered genuinely unified communities? Are devs pushing it as a selling point, or is it still a niche feature? How do you feel about skill disparities between touchscreen and controller players in cross-play lobbies?
Scorpion Posted May 23, 2025 Posted May 23, 2025 Mobile cross-play has the potential to unify platforms by allowing players to compete and collaborate regardless of device. It fosters a more inclusive gaming community, enhances multiplayer experiences, and encourages developers to create more versatile and accessible games for everyone.
killamch89 Posted May 24, 2025 Author Posted May 24, 2025 Implementing rollback netcode across mobile and console could solve latency gaps, while optional input-based matchmaking ensures touchscreen players face opponents with similar controls to level the playing field.
Shortie Posted May 27, 2025 Posted May 27, 2025 As much as I would love to see cross-play between mobile, PC and console, I feel with how that little bit further behind gaming on mobile is at the moment, that creates a big issue for cross-play between all platforms. Cheating would be a issue when it comes to cross-play, especially if games on mobile are not up to date with anti cheats and I also worry about microtransactions as well.
