killamch89 Posted May 24, 2025 Posted May 24, 2025 Mobile game preservation is a hot topic as OS updates and manufacturer servers kill off classics. How do you feel about initiatives to archive APKs, patch old titles, or emulate ancient hardware? Which games do you mourn losing - early rhythm titles, text adventures, or experimental indie hits? Are there legal or technical hurdles you’ve run into? Have you personally backed up a fading favorite or contributed to an online archive?
Scorpion Posted May 24, 2025 Posted May 24, 2025 I believe preserving old mobile games is important because they represent gaming history and innovation. They remind us of past technology and creativity, and maintaining them allows new generations to appreciate and learn from the evolution of mobile gaming experiences.
killamch89 Posted May 27, 2025 Author Posted May 27, 2025 Projects like the Internet Archive’s Android catalog show promise, but sustainable funding and collaboration with original devs are crucial for comprehensive preservation.
Shortie Posted May 27, 2025 Posted May 27, 2025 I would love to see old mobile games be preserved, they are of course, a part of gaming history even if they are mobile games and I know many would love to go back to them in the future for nostalgia purposes and to also share with their family members and friends.
