Because it must be easier to play mind games for someone who appears superficially charming instead of wearing it as a badge. But then again, being open about it can lower peoples parades too. You definitely watch stuff that shouldn't be available online and that most people would be unable to watch (me included). Anyway, you're still very, very enjoyable to talk computer games with and an asset to the forum. And somebody we care about, even if you don't get what that's about. 🙂 If you play the game @StaceyPowers mentions, are you more likely to chose to kill the girls because that's enjoyable? Or are you indifferent and chose whatever makes most sense to do well at the game? Do you think your behavior in video games is related to your sociopathy or are those two separate? Do you think violent video games attract people with antisocial personality disorder(s)? Yes, that was a barrage of questions. 😄

It might be that there is something there. At least I know that I tend to play the "good guy" in games and make the moral choices. I'd kinda feel bad about killing little pixel girls. But I am hesitant to say that that makes me more moral/empathetic/less sadistic at my core than somebody who chooses to kill the girls! But then again, maybe we are. It's a very interesting question! @The Blackangel Your way of being so up front makes you very interesting. I would expect a sociopath to hide this part of themselves and play pretense.

I count on Christmas and my birthday for accessories. Not that I have many accessories. I don't have a gaming chair yet, but am wishing for one for Christmas this year. Hoping my boyfriend comes through, for the sake of my back. Other than that I have a good headset (birthday present). My monitor I bought almost ten years ago along with the computer, but it's decent. I haven't really thought about getting a real gamer mouse and keyboard. I have no idea how much of a difference it makes? I do however plan on a new computer, though that might wait until after Christmas, where the prices might drop. Waiting is so hard though!

I'm the wrong person to ask. I don't think I know more than one person behind video games, Will Wright. So I guess he's my favorite by default. 😄 I'm sure if I started a big Googling project, finding out who made what, then I might find other favorites. But I have a life to live. So no. 😄

I think that one has to be careful judging peoples morality based on their behavior in computer games. We all commit the ultimate moral crime, killing, in computer games. Sometimes even pixelated representations of humans. I don't believe that everybody who plays Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty or whatever have questionable morality in real life. I also don't think that those who are entertained by torturing and killing characters in The Sims, where it isn't a premise of the game, or unneccesarily killing non-enemies in Skyrim or GTA or whatever, have questionable morals. In general I don't think gamers are less moral people than others, despite constantly killing characters in an imagined world. When we play a game we create a character in our mind, a character that isn't us, we don't become the character, we tell ourselves a story. I think it's just a case of finding different stories interesting. Just like people who enjoy watching slasher horror movies don't like watching real life brutal murder. Of cause there exists the occasional sociopath, @The Blackangel even admits to being one, who just don't have a sense of empathy, but I don't think their actions in video games are particularly connected to their lacking empathy. They might as well manipulate real life people as video game characters. Correct me if I'm wrong @The Blackangel? But maybe some take it out on video game characters rather than real humans, because they know on an intellectual level that taking it out on real humans might lead to themselves being punished? My point is, I don't think there are a noticeably higher percentage of sociopaths/psychopaths among gamers than among non-gamers. I also don't think that people lose their sense of morality by playing violent video games. That's my two cents 🙂

I only play single player games too. For multiple reasons. If a friend wants to kill some AI baddies with me then I will enjoy that immensely, but complete strangers in my game, no thanks. So my favorite games better stay single player in new incarnations!

Hmmm. I think that I will instead go with a computer that comes with the graphics card Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (6 GB). Sounds like good bang for the buck when reading reviews. It's still only 6 GB, not 8 though. Good enough?

Hi guys. I hope it's not a bother to ask about computer specifications. I have no idea about what can run what and how well. I'm looking into getting a new computer, that will run the newest games well and not be outdated soon. At the same time I'm on a strict budget. One game I'm in particular excited about is Planet Zoo. It seems to have high system requirements, if you want to run it on it's highest settings at least. I figure if a computer can run Planet Zoo, it'll also be able to run Assassins Creed: Odyssey and The Witcher 3: Wild hunt well. They seem less demanding. I'm also hoping to be able to run The Elder Scrolls VI someday when it's released, but that will be a while! I'm looking at a computer with these specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-9700F GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX 1660 Ghost (6 GB) Memory: 16 GB I'm wondering if a 6 GB graphics card will be fine? For a good number of years in the future. I also don't know the brand Gainward. Is their stuff good quality? Thanks for helping a confused noob.

Of the ones you mention, micro transactions and lack of single player games are the ones I am most concerned about. I want my games to myself, or play them with friends, I don't want strangers in my game. And micro transactions I simply won't do. Period. I don't want to lose track of how much money I'm spending on a game and I don't like feeling like I'm constantly being milked for money. I'll happily buy proper packs of DLC to a game I love, but I refuse to pay little things constantly in order to progress properly in the game!

Obviously I want The Sims 5. But that's pretty certain to happen either way. I don't think EA is going to end such a profitable game series any time soon. Then I of course want The Elder Scrolls VI. But again, there's no doubt that will happen. And I think a new Left4Dead would be fun (They have a lot of humor and zombies. Everybody loves that!).

In Skyrim I've played the main storyline twice and since it's not a game with a finished "the end" it's not a game I expect to completely stop playing. And I can see myself starting over someday with a new character. I've played The Sims with a lot of different Sims, so that's sort of starting over.. I do that about 4-5 times per year.

I'm alright. Yeah, reality sucks 😉

AOE2 looks like fun! I'll have a closer look at it and give it a try. 🙂 It seems like decent simulation games (besides The Sims series) tend to be either 15-20 years old or brand new. Nothing that's, like, 5 years old or so. I wonder if they've gone out of fashion and then just returned again? What does that mean? 🙂

Hi guys. While I love a good RPG or first person shooter (have limited experience with these though) and such other action packed games, I also have a thing for simulation games. The big hit for me is the Sims series. I have every expansion etc. (minus two terrible stuff packs) for both The Sims 2, 3 and 4. I know, it's not very cool, but I find it fun and relaxing. Right now I'm also dying for Planet Zoo, but that requires a whole new computer (well, new CPU, GPU and more RAM, so might as well buy a whole thing, rather than get my poor boyfriend to attempt to rebuild my 10 years old stationary PC) and that costs money. Aaaaanyway, my question is if any of you play simulation games too? And can you by any chance come up with a good alternative to Planet Zoo, to tie me over while I save up for a new set-up? I am a bit skeptical of Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection since it's gotten pretty bad reviews. Have any of you tried it? There's obviously also Zoo Tycoon 2, but that is pretty ancient and I can't find it on Steam or Origin.

I've bought Killing Floor in case I got tired of Left4Dead (fun zombie first person shooter that I played with a friend) and in case I found somebody else to play it with since I lost said friend (long story) and don't have other friends who play video games. So, no intentions of playing it at the time of purchase, or now for that matter. Don't feel like killing zombies alone. By the way, quick question, off topic, sorry. Awww, I'd like to meet and play with you too! We are indeed on the same wavelength I think. I know I've been absent. I haven't been gaming for a while., except for The Sims 4. That's why I've not been here. Generally sometimes I play a lot, sometimes not so much. Other hobbies take my time too and I'm an artist, so I spend a lot of time drawing and painting. But I still exist 😀

I agree, they could definitely have more dialog. After a while whenever Lydia said "I'm sworn to carry your burdens" I wanted to punch the screen!

Obviously Skyrim can be played for an endless number of hours basically, and has hundreds of side quests, but I would have loved for the main quest line to be longer. If you're goal oriented you can play through that pretty fast. And I wasn't good at pacing myself (being responsible for saving the world is serious business and must be completed 😄 ).

@StaceyPowers Not having played very many games I'm not sure exactly how to answer this, but of the games I've played or seen video of, I'd say I'd like my RL world to look as pretty, grand and warm as Assassins Creed Odyssey. It would give an extra punch to the historical places and old buildings around. It's like reality, just prettier and more impressive.

It will be Fallout New Vegas as per recommendation of @StaceyPowers
