Was there ever a game you just had to have, despite it being a genre/format you typically avoid?

Was there ever a game that you were dying to play for some reason, despite it being a type of game or genre of game you normally steer clear of? What was it, and what compelled you to get and play it?

If a game isn't what I would like to get into, and probably because of its genre, I don't really think that it's something that I would be playing.

Definitely "God of War." I'm not usually into action games, but the storytelling and rich mythology drew me in irresistibly.

That’s a great question. I think for me, it was The Sims. Life simulation games aren’t something I usually play, but I was fascinated by how much freedom and creativity the game allowed. It made me realize how enjoyable it can be to experiment in genres outside my comfort zone.
