DC Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 https://www.ign.com/articles/cineworld-regal-filing-bankruptcy-theater-cinema-chain Even though there has been a big push to “get back to normal” this year, the long-term effects of the pandemic have been brutal in the movie industry. Cineworld, the company that owns Regal Cinemas, is filing for bankruptcy with $4.8 billion in debt.
The Blackangel Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 This sucks. The Regal theater here where I live is the only decent one. At least there's one other, even though it royally sucks.
killamch89 Posted September 1, 2022 Posted September 1, 2022 I remember going to Regal Cinema in Fort Lauderdale when I used to visit my aunt in the summers as a teen. It was pretty decent but I guess this is just how things go - I mean with the rise of things like Disney Plus and even Warner bros having their own service, cinemas and theaters were bound to suffer.
