How do you think the digital age has influenced political discourse?

Recommended Posts

More polarized.

Back in the day, there may have been that one friends dad who was a bit crazy about politics, always watching the talking heads on TV. After listening to him ramble for a bit, you just moved on and played with your friends and thought to yourself "thank god that guy doesn't have a platform to broadcast his voice on".

Today, thanks to social media, everyone has a platform and everyone is trying to make their voice heard, including many people who should keep silent.

We don't have politicians believing that they can get along it well without joining one social media account or another. You now see a lot of them on Twitter or Facebook talking, unlike what we had in the past with the TV controlling the narratives then.

Definitely agree with @Dismal_Bliss that everything is more polarized

You have fractionalized platforms, like Truth Social, where people of the same beliefs hang out with each other so it becomes an echo chamber. They feed into the hysterics of each other.
