Games where you perceived character motivations very differently on a replay?

Are there any games you played where on a second playthrough, what you’d learned during your first caused you to view a character’s motivations very differently?

When I was playing Strike Ops: The Line, I realized why Walker acted the way he did. In his mind, he viewed himself as the "hero", going above and beyond to take down his superior. In not taking time to think about his actions, he inadvertently killed a lot of people.

Definitely! Playing The Last of Us a second time revealed new layers to Joel's character. His choices made so much more sense.

Yes! Take Bioshock for example with the character Andrew Ryan. First, I thought of Tom only as a wrongdoer but after, I saw he wanted freedom and different from others.

Joel from The Last of Us. In the first place, I was just thinking that he simply wanted to protect his daughter but, second time around, I was able to analyze why he was doing things: guilt, regret, and desire for redemption

Exactly! As for the protagonist of Silent Hill 2 – James Sunderland? At first, I believed he was out for his wife’s revenge. However, I saw this as him facing his own demons on the second watch..
