StaceyPowers Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 In games where you play in third person, do you feel “far away” from the action? I do in some, but not in others; it seems to depend on where the camera is.
killamch89 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Outside of a few exceptions, not really. I still feel quite immersed in almost every third-person game available.
Lens Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Absolutely! I noticed that the camera placement can make or break immersion in third-person games. So, If the camera is too far away, I feel detached from the action.

Little things like the screen slightly shaking or blurring when taking an action does tend to make third-person action more immersive.

Agreed with you on that! but with a very clever camera work, visual effects, and responsive controls, it can definitely bridge the gap.
Scorpion Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Yes. Third-person perspective creates distance between me and the game world.

I completely understand where you are coming from. The third-person perspective can create a sense of detachment truly. This is noticeable in games that focus on storytelling.

Some games, like Max Payne or Uncharted, use the third-person perspective more effectively and the right camera angles and animations really helped to minimize the distance.
HowHammerYou Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 On the contrary, I have a harder time feeling immersed in first-person games. It always feels like I'm walking around with a box on my head, which is incredibly distracting.
