What should kids learn in school to be ready for the "real world"?

Schools often focus on traditional subjects, but what practical skills or lessons do you think kids should be taught to better prepare them for adulthood? Financial literacy, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, or something else? What do you wish you had learned in school that would have made a difference in your life today?

There are some very valid points here. School teaches you all kinds of useless information that has no real benefit to you in the real world and you'll soon forget most of it.

I don't think there is much that they should learn aside from being told the truth about what independence means. When they are able to know that, they have gone ahead to be ready for what is ahead.
