killamch89 Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Lately, I've been feeling a bit confused about Xbox's direction. With the shift towards Game Pass, cloud gaming, and a heavy focus on acquisitions (like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard), it's hard to tell if they're focused on hardware, services, or content. They seem to be going all-in on subscriptions, but are they still aiming for competitive console gaming? I’m curious to know what everyone thinks. Where do you see Xbox's future going? Are they trying to be more of a service than a console brand now?
Scorpion Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 I share your confusion. Xbox seems to be pivoting towards a service model, emphasizing Game Pass while still supporting consoles. It'll be interesting!
killamch89 Posted May 13, 2025 Author Posted May 13, 2025 Xbox seems focused on transforming from a hardware manufacturer to a content and services provider across multiple platforms. The Activision acquisition, multiplatform releases like Pentiment and Sea of Thieves, and continued Game Pass investment suggest they're creating a gaming ecosystem that transcends the traditional console boundaries.
Shortie Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 I have to jump in line with you and agree, I am too confused as to what their focus is at the moment and I personally feel, they too are just as confused as we are as gamers. I would love to see Xbox come forward with what their focus is so that we are all on the same page instead of being all over the place like we are now.
