killamch89 Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 Intense heat up front, then soothing sweetness to follow - does that contrast thrill or overwhelm you? I’ve had jalapeño-pineapple empanadas chased by coconut-lime sorbet, and the temperature-temperature play was mind-blowing. Does a palate “reset” dessert enhance the overall meal, or split the experience too sharply? What spicy-to-cool pairings have you tried that hit the perfect balance?
Shortie Posted May 11, 2025 Posted May 11, 2025 I am not someone who can eat many spicy foods now due to an issue I have with my stomach but I have in the past had spicy starters or even meals and then followed them up with a cool dessert. In the past I have eaten things such as curry and then followed them up with ice cream, usually mint-choc chip which is my all-time favourite.
killamch89 Posted May 16, 2025 Author Posted May 16, 2025 I absolutely love this combination! Starting with something like jalapeño poppers or spicy wings and ending with a refreshing mint ice cream creates this wonderful sensory journey. The coolness truly resets your palate and makes the entire meal feel complete and balanced.
