Shortie
I still remember when the console wars were all everyone talked about. Someone would always be high on PlayStation whereas someone else who was high on Xbox would give tons of reasons why Xbox is better than the PlayStation. Thinking about how things are now with consoles, are console wars still relevant?
Gonassis Posted yesterday at 05:23 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:23 AM Nope. The only thing that made it relevant was users' discussions about it. If it fades away, it's essentially gone. It seems like the tech stack, both software and hardware-wise, is overlapping across a huge area, so this is what made them more or less in line. Now it's more console vs PC, more so since the hardware is based on it.
killamch89
Console wars have evolved from genuine technical debates to identity-based tribalism. With hardware becoming increasingly similar and cross-platform play growing, the 'wars' now say more about human need for group identity than about meaningful consumer choices between substantially different products. Scorpion
Console wars still matter to many gamers, as they foster excitement, competition, and loyalty. While collaboration and cross-platform play are growing, debates about exclusive games and hardware differences keep the rivalry alive, reflecting diverse preferences and the passion within the gaming community.
