What game changed your perception of storytelling in games?

Of the many games I have played, some of them have great stories that I get sucked into and others are not so great. I often hear of people who say they played a specific video game and it changed their perception of storytelling in games.

What game or games that you have played changed your perception in video games? What was it specifically that changed your perception?

Spec Ops: The Line fundamentally changed how I view storytelling in games by weaponizing player agency against them. What begins as a standard military shooter gradually reveals the horror of your actions, making you complicit in atrocities while believing you were the hero - a narrative that only works in interactive media.

The game that changed my perception of storytelling was "The Last of Us." Its emotional depth, memorable characters, and compelling narrative showed me how games can deliver powerful, immersive stories that rival movies and books, making storytelling a core part of gaming excellence.
