I know there are all kinds of different Mario clones out there, I bet there was a ton of them on the NES alone, and the SNES. One game that comes to mind is Kid Chameleon, shares some similarities with SMB. Also that bible game Noah's Ark was a mario clone, just for the lord lol. Little Nemo Dream Master is another. Plus, I'd count all of those fake flash games that came out. Most of them were just Mario games made by fans, but there was some flash games that had similar gameplay but differing characters. A lot of them on itch io and humblebundle that you can find. Even some of the android games like say oddmar and the altos odyssey is good to try.
