New Video Highlights the Warlords of Total War: Three Kingdoms

Total War: Three Kingdoms is now less than one month away from launch. With Creative Assembly’s latest Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC now released, the studio has turned back to promoting their big upcoming title. In their latest video, they give an overview of the twelve playable Total War: Three Kingdoms faction leaders.

The Twelve Playable Total War: Three Kingdoms Faction Leaders

When Total War: Three Kingdoms launches in late May, there will be twelve different warlords and nobles for players to conquer China with. (Not including the Yellow Turban DLC faction, which will be available on day one. Creative Assembly has yet to reveal much about this group, though news is supposedly on its way.) These range from the benevolent hero Liu Bei to the calculating Cao Cao and of course, the great tyrant himself, Dong Zhuo. There are also less familiar faces; the two bandits, Zhang Yan and Zheng Jiang, for example.

When it comes to the Total War: Three Kingdoms campaign map, most of these characters will start in the northern half. Much of the southern half is either uninhabited or controlled by scattered parts of the Han Empire faction; a region ripe for territorial expansion, if players so choose. Sun Jian is one of the best placed to expand south, though doing so may leave his northern borders exposed.

The latest video jumps from leader to leader, analysing their starting positions and advantages. Some of those leaders, like Liu Biao and Kong Rong, will take a measured approach to development and diplomacy. However, there are others, like the warlords Dong Zhuo, Gongsun Zan, and Ma Teng who are likely to be much more aggressive. Meanwhile, Liu Bei starts without any territory of his own, giving him a unique starting placement. Of course, there is also the rivalry between Yuan Shu and Yuan Shao, the two brothers who both aspire to rule the Han Empire.
