I think it will be good in general, but I am largely sceptical that, yeah, it's still a cash grab. I don't really care for remakes, because they don't replace the originals. About the only remake that "did" was the 2002 remake, which is basically what the 1996 version couldn't be, because of hardware limitations of the era. But that was a choice for Shinji Mikami to do a remake, from the ground up. With Capcom, they had nobody holding them at gunpoint. It's the money they care about, first and foremost. Meanwhile, we could have gotten a good spin off game, which I'd quite frankly, take over a reimagining. The remake of RE3 was absolutely trashed from the moment they worked on it, because whoever developed it, just hadn't a clue what made the original so unique. To be honest, I will be surprised if I ever play that awful game ever again. And I wasn't overly impressed with RE2 either, as BOTH games were as guilty of omitting things. Not having Barry Burton save Jill in Raccoon City was dope, for a start. Feels like most of the pedestrian, ten a penny horror crap that companies make now for a cheap profit. Despite what anyone says, RE2's modern version doesn't hold a candle to the original. Yet if you look online for any reviews from the largest gaming giants, most fanboys say RE2 turned out to be magnificent, while dissing RE3. Hardly makes sense, though, giving how they are just as guilty for removing story aspects, and enemies. So it's kind of stupid to fault one game, rather than point out that they are both flawed. When RE4 arrives, don't be surprised if fanboys defend it to the bitter end. Because I know what they're like, as there's a forum I use for the franchise, called Biohaze. Some of the members are kind of the snobby type. They don't want you saying anything negative about the series, even if it's absolutely truthful. So I normally just don't say anything anymore.

Yeah. A new Final Fantasy game, and RE4.
-
Well... It was finally foo ken confirmed, for real! LOL. 😉 It is releasing on 24 March, 2023. 🤑 What do you think of the trailer from tonight's State of Play showcase, and how Leon Kennedy looks the same as he did in the reimagining of RE2? Oh, take my money, Capcom...
-
Someone claims the schedule for tonight was already unveiled. And yep. RE8 and RE4 are listed! 🥸
-
If you're in the UK, be sure to not miss the upcoming State of Play at 11 PM tonight. However, if you have work or education tomorrow morning, I'll understand if you have to go to bed. 😄
-
I used to keep missing the cave in the forest, that is on the side of the cliff. It is easy to miss it. Then the level would start to loop. 😅

Just remember, you can be excited, but don't get your expectations too high. Things can be spoke of via hearsay, and then not even be featured.

10 years, with no new Silent Hill game...
Knight Plug replied to Knight Plug's topic in Gaming Forum
To be honest, I think Sony is becoming overkill with these rumoured remakes. Because I don't know why it's so hard to give us a new storyline, after all of these years of the IP not being used except for lousy gambling machines and for promoting merchandise nobody really cares for. A company that does that because they have fallen from grace. But no. They want to remake Silent Hill 2, because that's the most popular entry. The one everybody is most familiar with. So it's a giving that fans will line up to buy it, and scoff at Pyramid Head in all his pixelated, PS5 glory. Personally, I would rather see a new, lower budget or even a high budget release of something entirely original, along the lines of what they did in the past, as opposed to rehashing an old storyline. Even if they change a lot, it still doesn't take away from the fact that instead of giving the long dormant franchise a new story, which they would deem risky, they want to go the easy, Hollywood horror route, and offer up a reimagining instead. Which the entertainment industry certainly has more than enough of already. I feel like it doesn't need to be remade. People may be excited about the game at first, but they're going to always make comparisons to the original when they alter so much. Because they do these remakes for the modern day gamers who refuse to invest in a PS2 (which is relatively easy to acquire on eBay). Got to be created in stunning HD, or they're simply not interested. I still don't get it with Naughty Dog either. Capcom, I do fully understand, because they're always being money grabbers. That will never change. But it's sad to see Naughty Dog and even Konami going the same route, assuming all of this hearsay online is remotely true about these titles. They could expand on the legacy and introduce new characters, new storylines, and just generally move the franchise forward in a meaningful way. They don't have the balls, so they're going back to the drawing board. It's more comfortable. Troy Baker basically is Joel. Ashley Johnson is Ellie. You can try to replace them with other actors, but it will never be the same. Enough said... -
Resident Evil 4 rumours have surfaced. Take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

I think that's coming soon, though. -

If they don't show anything at the Summer Game Fest, then I am going to be completely done talking about it. Nobody likes to continue to chase their tail. If anything was going to be shown off this year, it likely wouldn't happen at any other event. This would have to be reserved for the year's biggest event overall. Which is what this is shaping up to be. Right? Well, maybe not necessarily. But if they're smart... Until Konami, Sony, Bloober Team or whoever else reveals something officially, this is just more amounting Internet drivel to get people all worked up. For all anyone knows, this could be a bunch of images relating to some concept art to do with a game that could have already been axed. So it could be something that's no longer in development. You never know. I also want Capcom to hurry up and show something about the DLC for RE8 that they announced almost a year ago. Jesus! -

It must be legitimate, if Konami pulled the plug on his image posting. That probably wouldn't have happened otherwise. -

Oh, that's Dusk Golem. We knew him from the older forum for Biohaze. He popped in from time to time with rumours. Many of them came true as well, while some did not. He then began to lose some credibility. In fact, he leaked RE8 about 4 months before Capcom revealed it at E3, back in 2020. He was accurate about everything he said back then, which is why people treated him as the 'go to' guy for the latest rumblings. And I believe he's the one who also started the Silent Hill hearsay. But that had so far, not amounted to anything. To be honest, I think he's quite reliable otherwise. -
The Last of Us remake, if they annouce it. There was another game. I forgot the name of it. But basically, if they show off anything to do with the survival horror genre in third person, I'd support it.

Capcom will probably be promoting their games over the summer games festival, which starts at the end of the first week of June.
-
Ooh... RE: Verse is seemingly coming very soon. That must also mean that RE8 will finally be getting the additional DLC Capcom spoke about last summer as well, right? Well... I hope so. 🙂 https://youtu.be/pGjUgwjGQPQ

That's exactly how I feel too. Capcom has a habit of making up new storylines and adding in characters, that then they ignore. Although I guess in the case of some of them such as Sheva from RE5, she is African, but it's not like they couldn't still show her on video, updating her friends and fellow agents from her homeland. Because I seriously doubt these people retired from fighting the bioweapons. But it feels like a waste. Hopefully, this dry spell for gaming news will be redeemed at the summer games festival. It's been ages since Sony had a State of Play event as well, so there really hasn't been a great deal of things to talk about. These Wednesday night half an hour shows would be a great way to showcase a specific company's content, primarily. Like, Naughty Dog, or say, Square Enix.

One thing I do find odd about the DLC for RE8, is that they did not plan it from the start, like they did with RE7's post release stuff. A YouTuber named Eldincy said it was strange how Capcom didn't think to do that from the beginning, because if a company can predict a game will be released and become popular, as RE always is, DLC should have been in the cards from the start. Personally, I did enjoy RE8 a little bit. But it's not a RE game that I think will hold up well, like most of the other games have. I wasn't a big fan of RE7 either. It didn't really "feel" like a RE game at all, but at least it was enjoyable, and became a noted showcase for the VR headset. RE8 just felt too silly, and absolutely nothing like RE. Or at least not classic RE, which Capcom has mostly distanced themselves from these days, besides incorporating shades of it into these remakes. I was hoping they'd kind of move on from the Winters family, but now Ethan's daughter Rose will likely become a major protagonist for RE9 or 10, or whatever. Ethan could even still be alive. They've kind of left that guy's possible survival open, going by the post credits scene where he was kind of revealed to be the guy walking near the car. But I'd honestly prefer to see some of the veterans back, like Jill, Rebecca and Barry, or maybe Billy Coen, since no-one knows where the hell he went after RE0.
-
The problem with Capcom is that they just want to make money. Lots of it, too. In their eyes, I think some of their games like RE0 were good enough to be well received critically, but in terms of the big sales numbers, certain entries were very underwhelming. So once that occurs, Capcom usually makes up a new storyline as quickly as they can, and then kind of "bury" a lot of stuff they had built up. For example, RE0 and the remake have Rebecca Chambers behaving almost like different characters. Some say the experience left her like that. But meh. They really do portray her as brave in one and somewhat wimpy in the other. I just think it's sad how Jill Valentine has technically been gone since 2009. Remakes and spin offs that predate the events of RE5 don't really count as much as sequels would. But it's about time Capcom brought her back, as she's meant to be the main heroine of the entire franchise, along with Claire Redfield.

I fancy live streaming some survival horror games. Unfortunately, it's hard to do with this Australian guy trolling so much. Getting any traction on YouTube is also quite difficult as well.
-
Well, he is too OP. If they use the same heroic characters, the games won't be as scary. Leon has already been in most of the games and he is in every animated canonical addition as well. With that said, I really want to know what became of Billy Coen. He was the convict in RE0 who meets up with Rebecca. He survived, Rebecca allowed him to go free in the forest near the estate, and he was never seen again. It's a mystery as to whether he got out of the woods or not, considering the area was being infested by zombies and infected animals.
-
Capcom should have just named it as Resident Evil: Revelations 3. It was supposed to be the third part of the side stories anyway. I would have definitely been keen on it, as there was a rumour about Natalia being in school, and Rebecca working there. Leon was also said to be involved. By the sound of the story, it seemed more RE like than even RE7 or 8. Now, I know he [Leon] is kind of becoming overused, but they did appear together in the most recent animated film. Not the Netflix animated series, but the last animated film from 2013.
-
There seems to be multiple rumours suggesting that The Last of Us is getting a remake announced soon. It could even drop in late 2022 as well. So maybe we won't have to wait for much longer, with there being other shows lined up to replace E3. I could actually see a Sony State of Play event being ideal for confirming this big news. But I think it will likely be at the summer festival, as that's likely going to be way bigger than just an online Wednesday night type of quick thing.

Silent Hill may be getting revived by Bloober Team...
Knight Plug replied to Knight Plug's topic in Gaming News
It was annoying when they would plug merchandise for a series, such as gambling machines and skateboards, knowing that the franchise had been mostly an afterthought from Konami. Not to mention their passing tweets when the 20th anniversary came around. It was so hollow. Even Capcom gives more love for their games. -

I remember the backlash well, and they deserved it. They have let a beloved series go to waste. In fact, all of their franchises, more or less.
