  1. This is sad news. Ready At Dawn is shutting down at the hands of Meta, who bought up the studio back in 2020. The studio lasted for 21 years and produced games like; Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus & God of War: Ghost of Sparta for the PSP. They also helped develop the Wii version of the popular Okami. Their last major release was with the PS4 exclusive, The Order: 1886. Which didn't do so hot. Ever since, they moved on to doing VR with Lone Echo for the Oculus Rift in 2017. And that's essentially where things end for the studio, as their last release, Lone Echo II, came out in 2021. You can read about this news here: https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/meta-shuts-down-quest-developer-ready-at-dawn
  2. With the recent release of Fallout: London, the big mod released for Fallout 4 that adds a completely new area (London) and a whole new story and cast of characters. And this is all made by fans of the game. But, are there other fan projects similar to this one, where someone has made a mod that is like a completely new game? I like when fans and gamers keep an old game alive, whether that means to add new story missions, quests, characters, locations, etc. Are there any fan communities that have put out massive mods like Fallout: London, but for other games? If so, what games are being kept alive like this by fans?
  3. The PS VR 2 is said to be supporting PC soon, as they will be releasing an adapter you can buy to make the VR headset work with PC. Sadly that adapter will put you back an additional $60 once it does come out. Not sure why they can't just release it with new headsets, but that's Sony for ya. Always wanting to find a quick buck. The adapter can be purchased on the PlayStation shop, but it's currently not available, even for pre-order. But, you can bookmark it for when the time does come here - https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-accessories/playstationvr2-pc-adapter Also, I'm hearing they made PS VR 2 with PC in mind, so why couldn't they make it work out of the box? I get they are trying to sell it for a console, but if you support it for PC, may as well do so out of the gate. You can read about that bit of news here - https://twistedvoxel.com/psvr2-was-designed-with-pc-connectivity-in-mind-sony/
  4. Has anyone here played this game? Nine Sols is a 2D Action platformer, kind of like a Metroidvania. It looks like a lot of fun. It's currently out on Steam, but I hear it may be coming out for the Switch soon. According to the article below, they have rated the game for the Switch, so it's likely going to be announced soon. You can check the game out on Steam right now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1809540/Nine_Sols/ Article on it possibly coming to the Switch soon: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2024/08/critically-acclaimed-2d-sekiro-like-nine-sols-has-been-rated-for-switch
  5. What do you think of the list? There are a lot of N64 games that look good to this day. Here is a list of 10 games that have aged beautifually. Do you agree? Some of the games that made the list are 1.) Paper Mario, 4.) Star Fox 64, 6.) WWF No Mercy, 9.) The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and so on. You can find the full list in the video or here - https://culturedvultures.com/n64-games-that-aged-beautifully/ What are some games you feel should be added to this list? What games do you think should be replaced?
  6. Has anyone here played Bleak Faith: Forsaken? It's been out on PC since March of 2023 I hear but it will officially be coming out for the PS5 tomorrow. The best thing I can gather from it, is that it's like a souls-like game, so expect it to be quite the challenge. Check the release date trailer below, at least when it comes to the PS5 version dropping tomorrow.
  7. The Exhausted Man is a new indie game where you take control of a game developer who is sleep walking, and during his sleep, you're supposed to work on his upcoming video game. But, it's not traditional sleep walking, instead you move around the level as if you're a snake. It honestly looks kinda dumb, but it also looks like it'll be a fun game to play. Check the trailer out below and let it do the talking! :)
  8. Does this spell an end to video game magazines as we know them? I don't think there are many gaming mags left on the market, maybe that retro gaming magazine, but I don't know of any other living magazine brands that still release physical mags. Anyway, this is about Game Informer calling it quits after 33 years. I didn't even know they were around for so long. When did Gamestop come into the picture? Was it always a Gamestop magazine?
  9. It looks like Ubisoft is jumping into cloud gaming, as they recently launched their first ever cloud gaming service to the public. And it seems like there a chance those who have Ubisoft+ will be able to take advantage of it at some point. Right now, you can get in on a free trial of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, though I assume they will drop other free trials at some point. Anyway, do you like that Ubisoft is joining this foray into cloud gaming? Would you use it? You can see a demo of it in action below to get an idea:
  10. Whirlight: No Time To Trip is an upcoming point & click adventure. I'm getting the Sierra vibe out of this one. It feels like we haven't gotten a true to form point and click adventure in a while. It's developed by the team at Imaginarylabs who previously did the point and click game Willy Morgan back in 2020 or so. It'll be dropping on PC via Steam in early 2025, with Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One & Series X|S versions to follow.
  11. I saw this one compared to a Cyberpunk like Paperboy. I totally get those vibes watching the trailer. Instead in Death Noodle Delivery, you're tasked with delivering noodles to customers. It's from the teams at Troglobytes Games, Tiny Pixel and Stupidi Pixel. Check out the trailer below. It's out now for Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Switch and of course PC via Steam.

    Deadlink

This one looks like a blast. It looks to be in a Cyberpunk style but in an arena shooter. It's developed by Gruby Entertainment. Which seems to be their first release. It just came out for the PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S. Is this something you'd be into? It seems really fast paced, but looks like it controls really good. Check the trailer out below.
  13. Have you ever used more than one monitor to play a video game? I know you can setup multiple displays to work as one display for a game. Like some people who have racing setups. Some will utilize 3 monitors as one display. I've always wanted to do it, but my setup never permitted it really. Of course you could probably buy a really big curved ultra wide monitor to achieve this, but I could see that costing more. Have any of you ever played a game with multiple monitors? Would you? Or would you rather just use an curved monitor to achieve it?

    Conscript

There's a new survival horror game set during world war 1. It's in a top down style, with pixel art style graphics. I really like the look of the game. It's from a studio called Catchweight Studio, and this happens to be their first ever release. The interesting thing about it, is that this is a horror game about war itself, so there are no monsters or supernatural elements, just war really. And war itself can be horrifying. Anyway, it's out now for just about everything. PC (Gog/Steam/Epic), Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
  15. With the recent store shutdown for the Xbox 360, it seems like the right time to post a topic discussing the best games for the now 18 year old console. Wow the 360 can vote now. lol But seriously, out of all the games released on the 360 over the years, which ones do you consider to be the top of the line? Are they going to be exclusive titles like Halo 3, or 4. Or something from the Gears series. Or are you more interested in a 3rd party game like one of the COD games, Battlefield series, GTA IV, V, Red Dead Redemption etc. What would you say is the best the Xbox 360 console has ever had? Maybe it's one of the Forza games, or something I'm completely forgetting about. And feel free to discuss the worst too if you want. For me. I think if we had to pick the best exclusive, I would go Alan Wake. I was never too into the Gears or Halo games myself. I know they are probably the most popular out of the bunch for Xbox, but I preferred Alan Wake as an exclusive. Now days it's on every platform though. As for non-exclusive, I'd go with Red Dead Redemption. Just everything about that game was solid for me. One of my favorites. Anyway, discuss what you think the best Xbox 360 game is. Is it an exclusive? Or a third party title that released on many consoles?
  16. Story here - https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/playstation-vr2-psvr2-ps5-sale/ This is some good news for those who've been looking to get the new PlayStation VR2. Sales haven't been the greatest, and this may be a big push for them to draw in some sales. Sony is calling this their "Back to School" Promotion. As of today, you can purchase a brand new PS VR2 for $349 accross various retailers like; walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, Target and more. Walmart - https://www.walmart.com/ip/PlayStation-VR2-Headset/3586747159 Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-VR2-PSVR2-5/dp/B0C1QJ6VHY/?th=1 Best Buy - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-playstation-vr2-multi/6542114.p?skuId=6542114 And I'm sure other sites are listing it at the same or close to the same price. I don't think it's necessarily needed to list every site it's available for sale. Really comes down to checking each store and seeing if they have the same deal. Either way, this may be the best time to pick up a PSVR 2 before the prices go up. But, part of me thinks this will be the new price for it going forward. As it would be a good price point to compete with the Oculus Quest 3.
  17. It's being reported that a skin in Call of Duty was allegedly made with AI. It's said to be a part of the The Yokai's Wrath bundle. The bundle costs 2,400 COD Points ($19.99). Activision said previously that they do not intend to sell items made via AI, and that they would only use AI to aide in said production of DLC and skins. It may also be due to the constant layoffs Activision and company have done, as some of them seemed to 2D artists. So the ones still working, had started to use AI to aide in the production of these skins. You can read the story here - https://www.thegamer.com/activision-reportedly-sold-an-artificial-intelligence-generated-skin-in-call-of-duty-game-development/ This leaves me with my main question, how long until we start to see more games utilize generative AI in this way? I don't mind if AI is used to help finish a piece of art, but if it's solely made with AI I don't think it should be legally sellable. Especially if it's generating any of this content from already established artists. I can see more studios doing this in the coming months and years, and I can even see some outright using AI completely going forward. Do you have any worries that other studios and developers will use AI in the same way?
  18. Ooh I hope this turns out to be true, because remasters for these two games are much needed. And now it seems the news of it being a reality has leaked. It's said that there are remakes in the works for both Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 and 2. It seems branding for the title was leaked out of the upcoming Comic con, which also showed off a collectible figure I assume you can get when it releases. Check it all out via the link below and lets hope for this all to be true. https://twistedvoxel.com/legacy-of-kain-soul-reaver-1-and-2-remastered-reportedly-leaked/
  19. Whether it be the original Kinect or the Kinect 2 that came out with the Xbox One, does anyone here still use either of them yet? Maybe you still play some of the games that came out for it, or maybe you use it on PC in other ways. I know you can use Kinect on PC in some ways, but I never tried. I am curious though, who here still uses it for any reason? Who here has tried to mod it to use it for other means? Is there even any point to use a kinect in 2024 and onward?
  20. Who here has played any of the games in the Earth Defense Force series? I've never played anything in the series, but it does look like a lot of fun. The 6th game just dropped recently on PC (Steam/Epic Games), PS4 and PS5. I'm hearing the new game is getting review bombed because people hate that it requires an Epic Games account in order to play, even when buying on Steam. I don't see the fuss in just creating a quick account, but I guess they have to have a reason to complain. You can read about that here too - https://techraptor.net/gaming/news/earth-defense-force-6-review-bomb-epic
  21. For those who don't know, Fallout London is a mod for Fallout 4 that has been in the works for years I believe. The mod has officially dropped and is available for free on GOG currently. They seem to be planning a release for Steam and possibly Epic. But right now the focus seems to be on GOG and Steam. Anyway, a thing of note, if you do download the mod, you will have to downgrade Fallout 4 to an earlier since the recent next gen update the game had. As well, it sounds like you need to also own all the DLC or the Game of the year edition to take full advantage of this DLC. Either on GOG or Steam. They released a trailer for it, and wow, is it ambitious. Check it out below. https://www.gog.com/en/game/fallout_london And more on the game release here - https://fallout4london.com/release/
  22. I've been hearing lately about these new Nintendo gacha keychains that are dropping in Japan stores soon. There are multiple designs. One set showing off Famicom an NES styles. And another set that looks like the SNES/Super Famicom. You can see images of what they look like below. What gives me hope of them releasing in the US, is that these come in Famicom and NES styles. To my knowledge the NES and SNES was not sold in Japan, they would have still used the Famicom name. So Idk why they are combining the SNES/NES if they are only selling them in Japan. These look so cool though. If they came to the US, would you guy these? I think I would if the price wasn't too high. Read more about this news here - https://mynintendonews.com/2024/07/23/japan-nintendo-gacha-key-rings-available-in-their-stores/
  23. If you have a crew of online gamer friends, do you guys stay in contact often? Or do you ever lose touch and move on with your lives? I have a lot of friends on Xbox Live for example, but most of them I haven't played with in years. Some of my irl friends, I haven't played with in years. I tend to game with just a small group of friends online. So I don't really stay in touch with all of my online gaming friends. But what about you? Do you guys stay in contact with your online gamer friends? Or have you lost contact with some like I have?
  24. Check out a new off-road racing game called ExoCross, the people at iRacing. It just dropped yesterday, and so far reviews on steam seem to be mixed. But recent reviews seem positive. The game is said to have 4CPT vehicle physics, which equates to 4-way contact patch traction technology. So I'm guessing the physics are really good in this. For those who like racing games, I can see you really getting into this one. Who here has already picked it up? Or intends to soon? It's currently out for the PS4, PS5 and Steam. And looks to be releasing for Windows and Xbox later. Steam page - https://store.steampowered.com/app/773840/ExoCross/
  25. I'm not one for these types of games, but I think there are some fans of the genre here. Surfpunk is an upcoming anime inspired Co-op extraction ARPG still in development. I'm hearing there will be procedurally generated islands as well. It's only just been announced and there's been no news yet as to when it is expected to release. But they did release a trailer for the game, and you can find that below. You can also find it on the Steam page here - https://store.steampowered.com/app/2434830/Surfpunk/ There was also a press release put out about said game that will go into a bit more detail if you're interested - https://thegg.net/press-releases/the-co-op-extraction-anime-inspired-arpg-surfpunk-has-just-been-announced-for-pc/
