I don't recall the battery life of the PS4 controllers ever particularly being a strong point, but it also largely depends on the kind of games you play, and your settings of the controller itself (light bar brightness, vibration enabled/disabled, sound volume).
I reckon I could probably get a good 5-8 hours of continuous play dependant on the game(s) played.

I keep being tempted to download a copy of the original The Sims game.. or even to try The Sims 2.
The newer iterations don't interest me so much for some reason. Probably with the added pressure of achievements/trophies, or the sheer amount of available DLC.

I honestly don't mind using wired controllers still as a retro gamer, but I do prefer the convenience that wireless controllers give.
Unless of course you gave me a Dreamcast controller.. The default position of the wire coming out of the bottom is just.. weird.
(Yes, I know you can hook it to the top) -
I've been dabbling with a game called Tembo The Badass Elephant on PS4.
It's made by Game Freak (the company that developed the Pokémon games).. It's ok I guess, nothing to write home about though despite the awesome title.

I'm not personally, although my brother is and I said I'd help him out.. Are you hunting for one too?
The Independent seems to be pretty reliable for news of restocks in the UK. It's how I also got wind of PS5 stock and managed to buy one back in July.. 😎
Latest stock updates:
26/10 - (UK) - Series X partial restocks in-store at GAME
26/10 - (UK) - Fifa '22 bundle available at Currys -
What do you make of the recent developments with so-called PlayStation exclusives being ported to PC?
Do you look at Sony and less favourably? Are you likely to sell your PlayStation versions and pick them up for PC? Do you see any benefit to PlayStation gamers?
Shawn Layden, former CEO at Sony believed that the move would "get more people into our PlayStation world" - to me it seems to do the opposite?
Just some of the titles that have been ported, or are confirmed for release:
- Death Stranding
- Journey
- Heavy Rain
- Days Gone
- Persona 4
- Disgaea
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Nioh
- Nioh 2
- Beyond: Two Souls
- Detriot: Become Human
- God of War
- Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
- Flower
- The Unfinished Swan
- Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
- Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Have you got a steering wheel & pedal set in your gaming setup? Have you tried a set elsewhere, other than arcade machines? Do you have any recommendations?
I've used a set in the past on the PS1 (Joytech Jordan F1), and didn't really get on with them.. but I'm sure that technology has come a long way since then, and with following Tiametmarduk on YouTube, I do fancy giving them another go. I'd probably be looking to spend no more than £150-£200, so that likely rules out most sets that the professional eSports people use 😉

Final Fantasy VII and VIII are my favourites.. I've yet to finish VIII without the use of a gameshark code for 'The End' magic though, I need to try and put that right at some point 😬
I really enjoyed Final Fantasy X, but I just found it far too easy which is why I don't consider it a favourite..
I really fancy giving Final Fantasy VI a playthrough, but just haven't got around to it yet. I'm kinda hoping they do a PS4 port at some point, the added motivation with trophies would be neat.

Edge is definitely worth sticking too but with each update the settings go default which is something I hate.
What kind of settings? I can't say that I've noticed anything getting reset.. are you using any kind of development build? 🤔
..I suppose I don't really change much settings wise, but I'd be interested to do some kind of test.

In recent times, my fastest completion was a game called Actual Sunlight on the Vita, finished in 3 hours, 54 minutes (according to PSNProfiles).
I seem to recall I could have done it quicker if I wanted to, but for some reason I had to take a break in between.

I like watching video reviews of games. They feel like they give you that bit more information by showing parts of the game that the reviewer may be discussing at any one time, such as combat mechanics. Sometimes that demonstration really helps to validate a point, as well as giving us a glimpse of what the game is actually like.
..that, and I often can't actually be bothered to read a review, let alone an essay! 🤣

I tend to just stick with the new version of Microsoft Edge (Chromium) these days.
Chrome itself has ended up feeling way too bloated over the last few years, Edge feels like a decent compromise.. 🙂

For some reason, the very first logo (top left) feels really familiar, but I can't quite think why..
The one in the centre almost reminds me of the Dreamcast logo that came to be. I wonder if SEGA took any kind of inspiration from it?

I finished the game on the original Xbox way back when, and decided to pick up the remaster on the PS4. For the most part, it plays exactly as I remember and it was good to play through it again, especially as I'd forgotten bits and pieces over the years!
Those QTEs can be a real pain though.. 😤

Even though I can almost guarantee that the majority (if not all) of my PS5 game purchases will be digital, I still decided to go for the disc version..
It's just reassuring to know that I have the option, and it's sometimes easier to ask for physical games as birthday/christmas gifts.

I will mostly try to solve game puzzles without use of a guide on my first playthrough, although if I get stuck for a significant amount of time or I'm not particularly enjoying the game, I'll take the easy way out simply to progress..
I loved working out the DDK puzzles in the original Dino Crisis (PS1) game, and had a great sense of achievement in doing so.

I've noticed that with one of my PS2 controllers, both analog sticks look and feel a bit sticky to the touch (no pun intended).. I'm not entirely sure why, I don't remember leaving it like that. I did wonder if there was some kind of chemical reaction going on, but then it would likely be happening with other controllers too.
I keep meaning to try and clean it, but haven't got around to it yet.. 😆

I decided to take the plunge and upgrade my PC to Windows 11, despite not particularly being in a rush to do so.. 😅
For the most part, it does just feel like a continuation of Windows 10. Surprisingly I do quite like the new simplified UI, it feels clean and responsive.

I've already noticed that my reaction times and hand-eye coordination perhaps isn't up to the levels of where they used to be, and I'm only in my late 30s.
It does make me wonder realistically whether I'll be able to continue playing certain types of games beyond a certain age.

Don't get me wrong, it's not at a level of great concern at the moment, but it is noticeable.
It's why I haven't taken on the challenge of games such as Super Meat Boy. I doubt I'd be able to keep pace with the manoeuvres required, particularly in the later levels.

Although the microtransactions used in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is frustrating, I still enjoyed the game.
Thankfully they completely removed the multiplayer segment from the remastered PS4 version.. Likewise with Revelations.
It always felt a bit "tacked on" anyway, so it's no great loss in my opinion.

I doubt they'll bother remastering the original game.. It's pretty bare bones in comparison to all of the games that followed it.

I've picked up a couple of things while watching speedruns of the classic Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) games.
I haven't got around to trying them for myself yet though..

I was very tempted to smash my PS3 controller on a few occasions whilst playing Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit recently.. 😳 (I didn't)
Particularly with the traffic placement during time based events, quite often on a good run the game would throw some kind of BS at me such as traffic randomly veering off. So infuriating!
