I used to play GTA as a a kid and watch slasher as many others did and it certainly didn't make us into degenerates. Most millennial parents lack the basic parenting skills to keep their children on the right path and most of these parents nowadays are too busy with social media to take care of their children.

Parents still shouldn't let kids watch bad things - aside of "hero movies" where violence exists - but not for the "sake of gore".  As for Grand Theft Auto, a lot of disgusting talk there, any parent who isn't total trash would never let their kids play it.  Teens can discover later when run into Playboy magazine or something, LOL.

The problem is that some of these journalists is that they complain about things that don't really matter in-game like who politically correct the game is instead of the game's quality among other things.

Well, I seriously doubt real gamers would pay mind to such silly stuff - and probably reviewers heavy into PC wouldn't be very popular - probably wouldn't make much money as game reviewers.

For you it may not be a big deal for rest of the world it is.

Science and Math is already meddled with SJWs, read harward business blogs, how the history and science is being meddled. Then again depending on your stance you may end up accepting what they say.

Well, you know, "I'm a dude, not a transsexual or anything." 😀 - but honestly, I have to say that this is a case of "reaping what was sown", even though, as just said, "I like to have a good time.".   I mean, decades and years of countless abuse of "traditional abusers" has certainly - lead to a backlash.   However, that's NOT saying everyone was abusing, though,  In fact, a minority of abusers have always messed things up - just like with SJWs, a minority of idiots have ruined their movements.

But, believe me, the backlash or anti-SJW movement is WAY more scary and probably will win.  I mean, when will cops get fed up, finally with black crime (in the US)?  When will angry workers finally rise up against low wage immigrants?   Well, the population of Africa is expected to quadruple in this next century - so where will that leave "white guilt" (and maybe also Northeast Asian guilt)?

  4. Gaming is a huge problem for kids cause, honestly, they scratch CD-Roms and I've even seen an instance of jelly being put in the console, lol.  Now, of course, with the rise of different cartridges - or the instance of no cartridge (downloads). we could see less of this, but would you still trust kids around games?

I would not!  In fact, I would monitor them - at the very least.

laziness is not an excuse for crappy parenting imo

Parents often use TV and games as nannies for the kids - but some don't monitor what they watch.  I mean, I've heard of a parent letting a kid watch slasher movies and they shouldn't play Grand Theft Auto - cause it's just teaching them a degenerate culture.

  5. The term "SJW" has been applied to what some see are "overkill cultural liberals".  Anyway, due to the fact, and I'm assuming here, that many gamers go to university, some now feel overwhelmed by the SJW dominance at universities, causing a backlash.

Anyhow, as alluded to in another thread, I feel this paranoia is unjustified.  In fact, a lot of this stuff can be ignored - but I feel some guys "get off" on feeling persecuted - when probably they aren't being persecuted and SJWism can be mostly ignored.

Well, regarding gaming, it is true there is a move to make games more politically correct, but honestly, the market is the market and the games "white guys like (using a stereotype)" will keep selling, because there's a market for them.  Also, if SJWs - try to "PC them" that would hurt sales, so game makers would try to avoid it.

O.K., then, now regarding the above paragraph, what is still the fuss?

  6. I wouldn't totally trust gaming reviews - because, well, looking at movie and music reviews, they often hit a wrong note, though, they're probably more correct than not!  I mean, Iv'e seen really great movies and music bashed by critics - only to be hailed as revolutionary in the future.

I think another thing about the gaming reviews is that with paid influence going on. It's hard to judge many games.

Yeah, it's important that the site, itself, emphasizes a non-bias.  For instance, looking at other industries, the magazine Consumer Reports doesn't accept advertising (makes money only from subscriptions) - so, supposedly, that means unbiased reviews.

  7. I loved Pitfall Harry as a child. I would play it for hours cause there was this one world I couldn't beat.  It was key to beating the whole Atari game.   Anyway, I finally did beat it!

Now, other games I had obsessions with was Mario Bros 3 (Super Nintendo), then known by a different name (Well, who didn't?), and this World War II bombing game (Pacific Theater, for Apple Computer), forgot the name (Forgive me I am 43-years-old.).

I think manly games are pretty much gone. Except mortal kombat I don't think any manly games have remained. I don't consider soccer and cricket exactly manly games anymore even women and LGBTQ community plays it. And with horizon type games I am kind of worried about type of SJW concepts gone in the head of kids. I don't think there are any research studies on testosterone levels or way to boost it while playing games . But if kids are thinking gender is social construct then definitely testosterone level has dropped to zero for them especially if they are into gaming.

Seriously, LOL, you all are making to "big a deal" about testosterone.  I mean, in actuality, it has nothing to do with games.  In fact, if anything, testosterone is going down, possibly, because gamers (some of them) only game, and don't get of their behinds and do anything else.   O.K., do they ever workout?  In fact, just mild working out, raises testosterone - even in ages as late as 40 years old.

Considering I studied science, I don't consider gender as social construct. It's either two of them or imbalance of both in one category. If we give art graduates the right on science, that would muddy the scientific facts. That's why I feel SJWs should not interfere with scientific facts with their acceptance theories mixed in to muddy the reality. Then again gaming industry along with comics and hollywood are already fallen into SJW schemes, so this mental disorder was bound to happen.

Science and math cannot meddled with by SJWs - cause "facts are facts".  But honestly, the last time anti-SJW had full sway over science, they also meddled with things.  I mean, look at the Nazi Regime (too much emphasis on nature over nurture), gosh!

  9. Certain people are not welcome in certain places and certain people won't change.  Well, one example of this was the US policy of nation-building in the Middle East.    Well, Trump now is pretty much in agreement this is a waste of time, and in the past both parties in the US supported it (some do now).

Of course, Brexit is some reaction against internationalism - in this light.

If it's not a left hand path religion, then it most likely would seem too gothic. But to each their own. If you have the option in your admin screen you should set up a dark theme as an option for those that are photosensitive, or those that just prefer it.

Always - mobile and tablet compatibility is a must!   Everyone is on them now - so I think the more "compatible" the better.

  11. I think an option of light or dark is good for any forum.  However, which to make the default?

2 minutes ago, The Blackangel said:

I did what you could call a religious forum once. The color scheme was black red and silver/gray. It went pretty well, until I took down the site and sold the domain.

Well, dark would work just as well - but it seems "too gothic" for what I am trying to across.  But it's all subjective anyway.

  12. A lot of people probably try to equate Barry Manilow with James Taylor - but I don't see the connection. Anyhow, I like plenty of "dorky music" -  like The 5th Dimension, Bread, Air Supply - James Taylor.

  13. Just now, The Blackangel said:

I'm extremely photosensitive, so the darker a site is, the easier it is on my eyes. I actually wear sunglasses in the house. So there are almost never lights on. It does help with the power bill though.

I like dark for all my websites, including business.   Anyway, even though I like it, I wouldn't always use it, though.  I mean, sometimes I want to be different - and I think dark is bad for my religious forum.

  14. I like James Taylor's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight".  Also, I like Glenn Miller, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and Snoopy stuff, lol.   Anyhow, I cannot name a song I like the most, though.

O.K. here is more that stands out to me:  String of Pearls by Glenn Miller, Snoopy Theme Song, the skating song on one of the Snoopy movies.

I hadn't heard about that. Where would you even buy something like that?

Just type in "buy traffic" into a search engine.

Anyway, as you were saying with registration, you can keep bots out.  However, I'd like to add that "making the registrants answer a backward question" often works (ex: What is the gray spelled backward?).

A good exercise routine does improve your quality of life. But there are those of us who are incapable of working out due to disabilities. So we're kinda screwed.

I see what you mean, a little.  Myself, I have scoliosis, so I can only do "so much" weight lifting.   Nonetheless, I think most people can do - at the least, an adequate workout.

  17. 1 minute ago, The Blackangel said:

You can always set the registration up so that bots aren't able to complete it. A lot of forums are able to do that, and it keeps the bots at bay.

Yeah, that's true.  But I was referring to people "actually buying bot traffic".  You see that everywhere.  It's that super-cheap stuff - like 1000 visitors for a dollar😂

At the moment all I know is HTML, so any site I would make would be pretty simplistic. Forums are usually available within the package you choose when you buy your domain from within your cpanel. Most aren't as elaborate as Invision forums, since they're just free. But if you can get a yabb forum, then you've gotten a fairly decent one. But if you want a site that's going to get much traffic, then you either need to have some serious abilities with it, or hire a professional.

Well, actually, free forums can be quite complex and I don't know of any premium blog software (Complex WordPress sites are on a free software.).

Anyway, what I'm hinting at is - free can be complex, depending on the skill of the developer.  I mean, Iv'e seen very advanced MyBB forums.

  19. Any ideas?  Well, if I had one, I would use Facebook Groups and Pages.  I would grow a social media following on them - or maybe some other platform, and then drive them to the website.

Anyway, some types of traffic I would not consider. For instance, some of it is just bots or coming from annoying and/or misleading ads (pop-unders, redirected traffic).

  20. If you had to make one, how would you do it?  How would you design it?  What forum and/or blog software would you use?

O.K. some might just say "Copy VGR, lol", but are there any different ideas?

  21. I had major problems with internet usage, not gaming.  I was a teacher - and so much time in-between classes was on the internet.

O.K. looking back, I should have not looked at any internet - cause it was giving me a very bad rep!

  22. Much of the west is "too rested".  Nonetheless, we cannot blame gaming, computers, TV, sedentary jobs etc..  I mean, the bottom line is that people need to "balance out" things; make time for working out.

Nonetheless, though, working out takes a lot of time.  I mean, a good workout - including the hour cardio, takes at least 2 hours a day - and that's not including driving and dressing time.

    Any thoughts?

Believe me, I had lots of behavioral problems in high school as well but I used to play football and do athletics to keep myself out of trouble(somewhat helped but I still got into fights etc.) I will do a bit of long distance running every now and then to keep my endurance levels high. A long run really relaxes you!

Well, prisons are still incredibly violent - despite all the "steam let out" via working out.  Nonetheless, you're talking about hardened sociopaths - the worst of the worst.  How would that even compare to a school?

I tend to avoid the drama on social media nowadays because most of the time, they are complaining about ridiculously petty issues when there are more serious issues that could use that kind of effort and time.

Most everything in politics is "petty" nowadays. For instance, has anyone ever considered Trump is just "joking around" when he says bonehead comments (racist etc..).  There's a good chance of it.  I mean, he just gave Tiger Woods a presidential medal!
