The Blackangel Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 I got a notification about a new item I had in my Steam inventory today. I looked at it and I could turn it into gems. What the hell is this? What does it mean? Is it like some kind of currency I can use in Steam to pay for games? Like a rewards program, or like the coins you earn in the Nintendo eShop when you buy a game? I've never noticed it before, and can't find any kind of explanation of just what the hell it is.
DarthVanity Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 (edited) https://steamtradingcards.fandom.com/wiki/Gems Looks like the coins and all that stuff is for customizing and personalizing your steam profile. A Google search did it. Edited April 26, 2021 by DarthVanity Re-read and seen "coins"
AndreiMirfi Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 For me, the gems are actually useful! I'm trying to have a high level on Steam, and gems help me get trading cards for game badges.

Personally, I have never really experienced this in the past but I believe that there is definitely a good reason for it. Did it happen just one time or did it repeat on more than one occasion?
