How important is genre to you in games?

I’ve seen so many people complain that they didn’t get into DA II/Inquisition because they had fewer dark fantasy/horror elements than Origins. This didn’t phase me much, and I realized genre isn’t as important to me. How important is genre for you in general in games?

I don't get into all genres, but I would say I fall in line with select genres, like; action, adventure, rpg (some), racing (some), puzzle, horror, open world, etc. I would give any genre a try if I don't normally play it. I'm open to trying new genres as well. The ones I mentioned above are the ones I tend to focus on the most. But, I wouldn't say it's important to me.

I'm not really all that into genres, if a game is good, I'm happy to play it.  It could be a Barbie game for all it matters, if the game is fun and I enjoy it, I'm playing!

There are some people who are very picky when it comes to the kind of genre they play in video games, so it matters to them a lot because it is the kind of thing that gives them satisfaction to play.
