Games that started better than they were overall?

What's a game that got off to an amazing start, and then just fizzled out or tanked?

Before GTA trilogy came out, their was high hope for the game, since Rockstar was doing amazing, and the trailer was captivating indeed. I thought the game will simply live up to its billing only to fall prey.

I can't really remember the game which started brightly and fade up as time goes. It only occurs that way when I've over played the game.
