What innovations in space telescopes excite you the most?

Recommended Posts

From JWST’s infrared sensitivity to the upcoming LUVOIR’s massive segmented mirrors, space telescopes keep pushing boundaries. I’m fascinated by concepts like star-shade companions for direct exoplanet imaging or quantum detectors for ultra-high resolution. Which innovations excite you most, and why? Are there mission designs you think deserve more attention or funding?

I wouldn't say that I use telescopes but I do follow people, a few on TikTok who go live and I am often amazed at just how much detail you can see now compared to many years ago. There is one guy that I watch and he has often done live streams and I remember one, you could see Uranus and the rings around it, it was amazing to see!

With the development of telescopes now, I can only imagine where they will be in around 5 - 10 years time.

I'm most excited to get more detailed pics of black holes. If we could get a highres pic of a SMBH, I would be doing the Snoopy dance. Another thing I want to see is the death of a star, and see what it becomes after death. Neutron star, quasar, pulsar, black hole, none of the above, etc. I absolutely love astronomy, and my favorite aspects to study are star death and gas giant composition.
