Knight Barida Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 A lot of top tech companies are producing foldable phones that have the capacity to act as a mini laptop. This has made me really look at foldable phones as one for the future. However, my worry is about how long it can last. Is it a device that can last longer for you?
Kennysplash Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 I wouldn’t know actually because I have not used it before. But what I know is that it is very expensive and it’s not something I see myself using.
killamch89 Posted May 9, 2025 Posted May 9, 2025 Current foldables actually have shorter practical lifespans due to their mechanical complexity. The hinge mechanisms introduce multiple failure points that traditional slab phones don't have. My colleague's Z Fold 3 developed hinge resistance after just 14 months of normal use, while my standard Galaxy S21 from the same period shows no functional degradation
Shortie Posted May 11, 2025 Posted May 11, 2025 I haven't owned a foldable phone but have seen others who have and what I have always noticed is how where the phone folds, it seems to leave a crease on the screen which tells me that it would affect the phone in some way and the phone may not last as long as phones that are not foldable. Would be interesting to hear from someone who owns a foldable phone whether they feel they tend to last longer.
