Shortie
What are your thoughts on permadeaths in horror games? Do you find them to be terrifying or just plain frustrating and annoying when you experience them? Do you feel that permadeaths in horror games are necessary and would you like to see them more in horror games?
killamch89
Permadeath works brilliantly in horror when paired with short, intense experiences like Alien: Isolation's Nightmare mode. The heightened stakes make every encounter genuinely terrifying because there's actual consequence to failure, recreating that authentic survival horror feeling that's often lost with regular saves. Scorpion
Permadeath in horror games can be both terrifying and frustrating. It heightens tension and stakes, making every decision feel crucial. However, it can also lead to frustration if players lose progress frequently. Overall, it intensifies the horror experience for some players. StaceyPowers
Frustrating for me. But this is because I am not honestly a very good gamer, lol. If a game has permadeath, that just means I will never be able to finish it. The closest I've come to getting through a game relatively unscathed is BioShock Infinite, where I think on my most recent playthrough I only died a handful of times. GameOn
I feel that permadeath is a very necessary thing in games. It is true that it can strike fear for some and induce annoyance depending on the game design. But I find it very useful.
