What dismantled developers do you wish would be back in business?

I totally agree with you on DSI — those early racing games had a charm that’s hard to find today. And Eden Games… Porsche Unleashed was just chef’s kiss, really wish they’d keep making stuff like that instead of letting new studios take over the franchises. Westwood will always have a special place in my heart. I still pop in Red Alert 2 every now and then, the balance and the music… pure gold. Novalogic is an interesting one — I loved the voxel tech at the time, it felt like stepping into a whole new level of simulation. And yeah, once 3D accelerators came along, things moved so fast. Digital Illusions’ original work is so underrated. I feel like people forget that they weren’t always just another EA factory. Those early Battlefield prototypes had some real innovation behind them. -

Haha, this is such a nostalgic trip down memory lane I totally agree with you on DSI — those early racing games had a charm that’s hard to find today. Yes, the development of AI really opens up new horizons for video games. The ability to make NPCs more alive and responsive to the player greatly increases immersion in the game. Mods like the one for Skyrim show how quickly technology is advancing. It is interesting that even small projects like Origins or Vaudeville are experimenting with integrating AI to create unique gaming experiences. I can’t wait for such technologies to become widespread and appear in major releases - it will definitely change the idea of interacting with the game world.

I see a lot of old games like Doom in the Microsoft store so will these games play on my ryzen 9-9900X and if not how can I tell what games will play and what games won't?

Beta testers and early adopters: what drives you to sign up for game betas or alphas? Do you crave exclusive access, perks, or simply the thrill of shaping a game’s final form? How do you provide constructive feedback, and which studios have you seen respond most effectively?
-
Combat mechanics vary widely - do you gravitate toward the visceral thrill of button‑mashing hack‑and‑slash, or the deliberate pacing of strategic, turn‑based encounters? Which games exemplify each style? Maybe you love the rhythmic combo chains of Devil May Cry or the chess‑like positioning in XCOM. How do skill ceilings and learning curves differ, and which keeps you coming back for more?
-
In your opinion, what’s the greatest stealth game of all time? Is it the methodical planning of Metal Gear Solid, the emergent AI encounters of Dishonored, or the tight level design of Thief? How do sound design, lighting, and enemy behavior contribute to that tension?
-
Speed demons, start your engines! Which racing game delivers the most intense adrenaline rush? Are you tearing through city streets in a hyper‑realistic sim, rallying through dirt tracks with oversteer thrills, or drifting in arcade classics? How do force feedback, motion platforms, or VR headsets amplify that speed‑fueled excitement?
-
Roguelikes and roguelites each offer distinct challenges - where do you stand? Do you crave the unforgiving depth and complexity of true roguelikes with permadeath and tile‑based movement, or do you prefer roguelites that blend procedural generation with more forgiving progression systems? Which examples best embody your preference - NetHack’s punishing design, Dead Cells’ fast‑paced unlocks, or perhaps FTL’s strategic tension?
-
VR gaming excels in immersion, but which title pushes real‑time narrative evolution to the next level? I’m thinking of games where your choices dynamically reshape storylines and environments on the fly. Which VR experiences have you replayed just to explore alternate plot branches? How fluid are the world reactions to your decisions that are both major and minor?
-
Academia and industry teaming up can accelerate VR breakthroughs, but collaboration isn’t always seamless. How can universities and tech companies effectively partner to drive innovation? Should they co‑fund research labs, share proprietary hardware, or co‑sponsor hackathons? What intellectual property models balance open science with commercial viability?
-
Can VR transcend entertainment and genuinely boost mental health? I’m exploring virtual environments designed for relaxation, guided meditation, or cognitive behavioral therapy. Which apps or custom VR worlds have you experienced that promote mindfulness, reduce stress, or aid in exposure therapy? How do they measure efficacy - through biometric feedback, self‑reporting, or clinical trials?
-
Social skills training in VR is on the rise - how effective has it been for you? Whether for public speaking practice, therapy sessions, or corporate soft‑skills workshops, VR can simulate complex interpersonal scenarios. Which applications or frameworks have you found most realistic and impactful? What metrics or feedback systems do they use to track progress? Have you noticed improvements in real‑world interactions after virtual rehearsals?
-
How might virtual reality environments revolutionize the visualization of multidimensional datasets? Imagine plotting complex neural network activations in three‑plus dimensions or walking through genomic data interactions. What VR platforms and software tools have you tested - Unity, Unreal Engine, or specialized analytics engines? Are there any killer demos or prototypes that turned abstract numbers into intuitive spatial experiences?
-
Mobile hardware keeps evolving - what feature or capability recently blew your mind? Was it real‑time translation, advanced AR overlays, or desktop‑class emulation? Maybe your phone’s camera handles astrophotography better than your old DSLR, or a neural‑engine‑powered app recognizes and categorizes your birdwatching snaps instantly. Share the apps, hardware hacks, or OS features that made you rethink what a pocket device can do.
-
What does your dream mobile gaming setup look like? Whether you’re gaming on a flagship smartphone, a dedicated handheld, or a tablet, what accessories and configurations bring your experience to the next level? Think foldable controllers, portable monitors, power banks, or custom grips. Do you prefer Bluetooth earbuds, wired headsets, or pocket‑sized speakers? How do you balance ergonomics with portability?
