  1. My cat doesn’t mess with my PS3 because It is under a low desk and she cannot squeeze under there, but the only spot I can think of for my future PS5 will be an area she frequents. Those of you with pets, how do you keep your pets off of your consoles?
  2. I was initially going to guess I’d have to wait until around six months after launch to get a PS5, but a little more than a month in, and I am starting to think that was an overly optimistic estimate. Now I am beginning to think I might be waiting the better part of a year. Those of you who plan to buy an Xbox Series X/S or PS5, how long do you think we will have to wait for available stock?
  3. As someone who is a couple generations behind on a PS3, it has been kind of funny and odd to me hearing about Cyberpunk 2077 getting panned because of its buggy release. The descriptions of the bugs sound like the nonsense that I put up with every day while trying to play Skyrim (or any Bethesda game, really) on my PS3—yet Skyrim was lauded despite its many glitches, and it seems (to me) that reviewers on the whole were a bit more forgiving. Have times changed with respect to this, with reviewers increasingly less likely to forgive glitches? What other games can you think of that are buggy as hell, but which usually are still referenced as incredible games?
  4. What games have you played that incorporated a lot of commentary on real-world social and political issues? Did you enjoy them and like what they had to say, or not? In this category, most of the games I can think of fall under Take-Two’s franchises, including BioShock and RDR, and I have been pleased with their messages against bigotry.
  5. Some people did have toilets: https://www.ancient.eu/article/1239/toilets-in-a-medieval-castle/ Skyrim castles have no excuse.
  6. It would give them more context to frame informed opinions, I reckon. I do think some games are so big though that if one tries to cover everything, it is a mile wide and an inch deep. I guess best for me in those cases would be someone who has played most of the game or all of it, but is focusing the review on one component or another in depth.
  7. Good thing, as there is literally like one bathroom in all of Skyrim =D
  8. On PS3, it turned out to be L2, R2. Thanks again!
  9. I think the game tried to explain this to me, but I missed the directions cause I was fighting, ugh. I will look it up again, thank you! I haven't even found that yet. I've actually been doing well with it. Sometimes I can even deal with clusters of up to three this way.
  10. I liked those little dungeons, actually. I know what you mean though. they were a bit repetitious. Not as bad as the Oblivion Gates in Oblivion though.
  11. I was running frantically around in RDR Undead Nightmare last night trying to survive, which was stressful, but also super fun. I realized then that this is sometimes an element of gaming I really enjoy—a frantic, panicky rush around for survival. I think when this happens it reflects a combination of my own lack of skill along with how the developers made the game to be experienced in parts. Do you enjoy this type of game play?
  12. @Kane99 created an interesting thread here about bickering gamers who take their games and consoles seriously in a negative fashion and pick fights with each other as a result. By contrast, does anyone here take any games very seriously, but in a positive and non-critical way? Like for example, I take the BioShock series extremely seriously--they are not "just games" to me--but I can still laugh at silly things about them and not attack other people over them.
  13. I think we have a thread here already on game-related merchandise we have, but what about game-related merchandise that you have your eye on and want? I would like a blanket I found today with a Skyrim map on it, and I am also planning to buy some small posters of some of the advertisements in BioShock games for plasmids/vigors and other products for my walls.
  14. Just started RDR Undead Nightmare last night, and so far I am finding it pretty challenging compared to the base game (but also very fun). Aside from running and climbing a lot and relying on the torch as much as possible, anyone have any tips for stocking up on ammo and generally staying alive?
  15. @The Blackangel was mentioning the stress of feeding and caring for horses to keep them alive in RDR 2, and it got me thinking about how stressful it also is to me to play games that force me to eat and hydrate and sleep to stay alive on a particular schedule. I do kind of get the appeal from a realism standpoint, but it is distracting to me, and I already struggle with basic resource management (I'm not bad at it--it just gives me anxiety). What about you?
  16. In Skyrim DLC, or something in ESO (which I haven't played)?
  17. Incredibly helpful and detailed recommendations. Thank you!! Incidentally, I think the RDR horses ride better/more naturally than those in most games. But in the original game, you don't have to feed them, etc.
  18. Mostly I just care if the reviewer is HONEST about what they did and did not play of the game.
  19. I just have to comment on my first playthrough with Dawnguard in Skyrim, so far this is the single buggiest DLC I have ever played. I’ve had problems with a glitch that could break the entire main questline, problems with Serana getting stuck, and I fell through the floor of a room. If anyone has any recommendations or warnings to share, I’d appreciate it, as I am worried about whether I will even be able to finish playing through the main quest line.
  20. I’m exploring the Soul Cairn in Skyrim for the first time, and I’m torn between finding it kind of cool and getting aggravated at the fact that it is so huuuuuge and kind of empty. I feel the same way about Blackreach. What big, empty areas in video games drive you crazy because you get lost, are a completionist, or just feel they overstay their welcome without offering much?
  21. I was so stoked to find a summonable horse in the Soul Cairn in Skyrim the other day (I am on my first Dawnguard playthrough). Finally, a horse that I don't need to worry about getting lost or killed; it solves so many of the problems I have had with Skyrim mounts. In general, I seem to find mounts in games problematic for a variety of reasons. Which games do you think have the best and worst mounts, and why?
  22. There is a lot of discussion of battle royale games here, and I sometimes see some of you mention not being a fan. For those of you who don’t like battle royale, why don’t you? And for those of you who do, what do you like about it?
  23. What FPS game modes are your favorites, whether generic modes that a lot of games have, or specific modes for particular games? My favorite is probably still the football mode (I think it went by a different name) in UT 2004.
  24. I think my top best of both worlds games are Red Dead Redemption and Fallout NV. What about for you?
