ZandraJoi reacted to killamch89 in How Often Do You Stock Up On Snacks?
I live in Jamaica and unfortunately, the prices of organic stuff here are like 2-3X what regular processed food cost. I at least try to buy fruits and vegetables but I don't think I could afford a full vegan lifestyle. Well I could, but that would come at the cost of maintaining other areas of my life.

5 dogs
9 rats
2 birds
2 dragons
18 kids in total, but my niece claimed one of the dragons, and I’m trying to find a good home for the other one. So it will be 16 soon.

I have 3 dogs and a stray cat that uses my yard as a pregnancy ward. No seriously, she keeps sneaking onto my premises to have her kittens and then knocks on my window for food lol.

I agree - I love going for nature walks with my dogs. It's very good for mind, soul and body - in addition to that, my dogs love it as well. There's a big rock in the woods near where I live and I do go there to meditate at least twice a week.

Being in nature, surrounded by my fur-kids. No technology. Just the sound of the birds & creatures. People tend to think of those who relax as being lazy. It's not. It's called Self-Care, which is vital for keeping us healthy.

ZandraJoi got a reaction from killamch89 in This is why Driving Sucks
People tend to view driving as a right. It's a privilege & with that comes responsibility. I too think it was his cell phone & the person was not paying attention to what's going on.

ZandraJoi reacted to Reality vs Adventure in Space Travel and Colonization
That just shows the parasites that humans are. To destroy the planet we live in and colonize another, then another, and leave a trail of death as we parasitize our homes spreading and taking all the resources without giving anything in return. Sounds exciting and all, but we are no better than a tapeworm swimming in shit. The rich are thinking of how to leave their eggs behind to carry on the parasitism.

ZandraJoi reacted to The Blackangel in Do you have a generator?
I have a Celestron Power Tank, but I only have it to run my telescope. It can power several things and even be used to jump a vehicle, but I don't use it for any of that. Just my telescope. It's technically not a generator, but it does provide power when it's charged.

ZandraJoi reacted to The Blackangel in Do you use a DVR?
We have the same. We record a lot of shows through our DirecTV DVR. We don't always remember to change the channel at the right time to catch the show, so we set it to record and watch it later. Also I'm always watching hockey, so that kinda blocks Love After Lockup.

ZandraJoi reacted to killamch89 in What is your least favorite chore?
The patience on waiting for food when I'm cooking is my only complaint about it. Otherwise, cooking is a very interesting thing for me and especially since the quarantine, I've been cooking far more than ever.

We don't do snacks too often here. Every once in awhile will get organic potato chips. Our snacks mostly consist of healthy foods like fruit, dried fruit, nuts, seeds.

It also gives you away to look back and reflect on various things you went through over that period and you can see where you possibly need to improve.

ZandraJoi reacted to killamch89 in A question from my girl
Sometimes, we need to also look back on the good memories that the dog blessed us with and also the lessons you learned from having them in your life. My labrador I had as a kid died in 2013. She died exactly 13 years after her birth and I learned a lot from her about animals. She even reminded me to never give up - she died 4 weeks after they thought she'd pass away but Daisy is a stubborn old girl so he wasn't giving her life up so easy. I was sad but I also smiled remembering the impact Daisy had on my life.

ZandraJoi reacted to The Blackangel in Are you good at improvisation?
I don't plan, I improvise. I react to the situation as it is happening. For all I know, I'll be dead in 5 seconds. So I see no point in planning. I'm not the most witty person, but I have my moments. If I get on a ramble, I'm told I can be funny as hell. A lot of times, I make the situation worse. But it's my choice to live this way. Reaction, not planning.

Don't worry about messing up, just say screw it and go for it. If you fail, don't be too hard on yourself. The key to adapting to situations spontaneously is to not overthink, remain very calm and believe in yourself. You have to bet on yourself in every situation and even if it doesn't work out, brush yourself off and go again.

ZandraJoi got a reaction from killamch89 in A question from my girl
Ours passed away in 2012 & it took me a few years to overcome it. She was mommy’s girl & had helped me through a lot of tough situations. We thought of getting a new dog, but I was never ready. What helped is fostering. Some we did for just a day, some was for a few months. I know it sounds cheesy, but you WILL know when you are ready again. You’ll know when you don’t have to ask the question- Are we ready for another dog?
