Yeah, I like em. Only played A Dark Room on iOS and a few old-school ones on Amstrad way back when. The Zork series should make a comeback on Switch or phones.

Yep, I learnt how to shove-it from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series. Like, seriously.

I think the "next Switch" is just going to end up being a hardware revision. Either a Switch XL with a larger screen, or a Switch Mini with integrated controls which brings the price way down. I could see them going in either direction.
As for a true next-gen leap, I've had this idea for a while now. They should revisit the Wii U idea of two-screen gameplay. Only this time it's the handheld streaming to the TV (or dock) instead of the console streaming to the handheld. Basically, your Switch would be like a Wii U gamepad that you could take with you anywhere. It would have everything that makes the Switch great right now, as well as the gameplay advantages that the Wii U brought to the table.

The other thread I think was 'how has gaming influenced your real life' so yeah, very similar.
My answer is pretty much going to be the same - I learned a lot about skating boarding, which was a fixture of my early teens through Tony' Hawk's ProSkater.
The other thing though, The Sims taught me about a bit of economic management. So that's fun.

It's a difficult balance, for sure. I think The Last Of Us did it just right as it makes every bullet and shiv feel important. Dead Space 1 and the Silent Hill games also does resource management right. Giving too much ammo and resources to players often detracts from the horror experience and it tends to lean into a more action-focused experience, which is what happened to Dead Space 3.

I place 0 stock in Halloween, I'm actually avoiding a Podcast this month because they won't shut up about it. 😛 (Looking at you, Stuff To Blow Your Mind.)
Nah, it sounds pretty good though. I especially love the sound of it not being two people who are already on board.
I'll let you know what I think!

Yeah, The Parapod is a really good podcast! It's mostly non-fiction and based on real-life stories. It's made up of two guys with really good chemistry. One guy really believes in the paranormal and the other - his best friend - doesn't believe at all. It's a nice mixture of pragmatism, humour and the paranormal. Check out the first episode and I'm sure you'll know if it's for you or not after that! Listening to it around Halloween is timely, too:)

Gonna have to look up some gameplay of the Robocop Vs Terminator game. Sounds right up my alley. I don't know how I've not played it! Shame on me!

Yeah, I have no idea how I missed this on my first playthrough. I'm guessing now that I'm on the lookout for it, I'll probably notice it everywhere, lol.

DylanC got a reaction from StaceyPowers in What video game had the worst ending of all time (in your opinion!)
I played a game called ZUB on the Amstrad growing up. It was a pretty fun platformer/shooter with a rad soundtrack. The whole point of the game was that you had to travel through 7 worlds to find a special green eye to win the game. Funnily enough, when you get all the way to the end, the twist is, the special green eye was in your pocket all along. And you’re then tasked with trying to TRAVEL BACK THROUGH ALL 7 LEVELS! My 8 year old brain just couldn’t handle it.

I'd just like to add, that - in general - games that try to be funny mostly fall flat. It's the games that are inadvertently funny that are super memorable.

It tends to depend on the game tbh. I actually save really often in games like Fallout or Skyrim because I can't bear re-doing a stretch of games after being killed or hitting a bug. Ideally, games should autosave often. That said, games like the Souls series don't need frequent saving. A big part of the risk/reward element of the game relies on the constant threat of losing a ton of progress. But, yeah, that risk/reward feeling isn't for everybody!

Well, those are the expensive ones becaues they are wireless. You can check artics 5 or even artics 3. Great sound, but cheaper.

I'm echoing Dylan on this one really. It really does depend on the game for me. Certain games I just rely on the autosave - although I messed that up recently on Crash Bandicoot, lost a good few levels cause I hit the wrong buttons...
For longer games though, such as your Fallout's, GTA's, Skyrims I certainly save any time I do anything of note or that would really annoy me if I had to do it again. It's makes me have a lot of saves generally but at least I  know I can just go back if I really really want to. Especially when I need to play through those alternate endings! Far Cry 5 was a pain for that after I played it through all over again to get a different ending lol.

    That sounds...Stressful.
Are the suicide rates in Spain of people jumping in front of trains big? It happens a lot here, to the point train driving is considered and paid as high risk work.

DylanC got a reaction from killamch89 in Games that made you think about moral choices?
The Fallout games, The Last Of Us and Telltale’s The Walking Dead are all games that come to mind as they really try to toy with your morality and ethics. Life Is Strange and Before The Storm also made me put down the controller a few times so that I could think about the decisions the game was asking me to make.

I do worry for my kid's futures. Now and then I'm optimistic that, surely as time goes on things will get better. But you're right, it ebbs and flows. Sadly I feel like a rise in far/alt-right politics in the mainstream has really given the knuckle-dragging bigots the confidence they didn't have before to come out in droves. 😞
