  1. What aggravates me about these kind of lawsuits and legal cases whare entertainment media is blamed for somebody's heinous actions in real life is the complete and utter failure it represents to address the real, root causes of such incidents. People are doomed to die in future incidents as a result. Whilst America's well documented issue with gun culture is certainly a factor, so I do think weapon manufactures have to held accountable, it is obviously nonsense to suggest any entertainment media, whether it's a video game, movie, music, or book, is any way responsible for the real life actions of a person. Human beings have sentience, the power to imagine and fantasize, it's inherent in all of us. We also have the ability to recognizes the difference between fantasy and reality as a part of that sentience. If a person does not have the ability to recognise the difference between reality and fantasy, then there is a problem with that person's mind. They are mentally ill. It has nothing to do with with a video game.
  2. I feel like I'm learning about you a lot faster than I expected too, whether I wanted to or not....
  3. The Paperboy games made sense in the 80's and early 90's because video game were more kid focused, but not now. Gamers these days want to save fantastical worlds, fight Dragons, become crime lords and kill Nazi's. I'm not saying the games were bad, there creative with the idea and there was skill and strategy to them, but nobody has an empowering fantasy about delivering newspapers, a dying media that the world doesn't even embrace anymore.
  4. I take no issue with Bungie taking cheat sites down and taking them to court, what I'm concerned about is the court system's ignorance in the difference between cheating and modding in future cases. I can see companies like Nintendo, Rockstar and possibly even Bethesda taking modders to court over perfectly innocent fan-made content for games because of these companies intention to monetise DLC and even mods themselves. I'm happy to see cheat sites be taken down and held accountable, but we could be sitting atop a very slippery slope.
  5. If you're right, then this is wrong. This is an issue with digital media that needs addressed. You bought the games, there should be no difference in ownership rights between owning a game digitally or on physical media. This is especially true on PC whare there is no physical media option anymore. Not owning a game that you access through a subscription, like Gamepass, I get. That's fair. I accept that when I play a game though that sort of means. I can even get behind not being able to resell digitally owned games like you can with physical discs, it's just not practical, but whare is the compensation for all this? Digital games aren't really cheaper, so what is actually being offered by these companies to make this fair? Exactly, nothing. That's why I'm disappointed to to see people like yourself just laying back and accepting it. You bought your Steam game collection, you should own your Steam game collection, end of story.
  6. I disagree. A Steam library is a collection, and collections get left in wills all the time. Over time as a collection grows, it can be worth a significant amount of money. I personally don't see a Steam account, or any digital game library, as being any different. As a digital game library grows it could easily contain thousands of dollars worth of games, additional content and software after just a few years. Ownership rights of digital media is certainly a problem that needs to be resolved.
  7. I rarely finish games within the "average" time mostly because I spend so much time looking through every nook and cranny for loot, resources and other stuff.
  8. I'm going to post the guidelines and go through them point by point to help you better understand the purpose and what the policy is asking you to do. The TL;DR is these rules are ion place too prevent spam, phishing scams and unpermitted promotional posts and affiliate post. Fairly self explanatory for most part. This is a gaming forum, we don't want people telling us great deals on car insurance or power tools, it's not what this forum is about. It's a common spam tactic to post a link to "this game I just happened to find and I'm TOTALLY not associated with" on Steam and other platforms whether it's discounted or not. This helps root such posts out. Besides, the sub-forum is called "Video Game Deals", there no place in it for games at full price. This part is obviously involves a judgment call on the part of both the one posting the deal and moderation team. You might trust a seller that I don't and vice versa, so it's your responsibility to choose your seller wisely and justify that choice if requested by one of the mod team. In this case, your deals are on Steam, something that is obviously a trusted seller, so this isn't relevant in this case, but it's worth remembering. On top of the aforementioned reason of only wanting discounted video games talked about here, having a format to follow make spam posts more easily spotted as they tend to be copy-pasted from a generic text. This format also just helps posts remain accurate and people can have all the information they need and not get confused if they click on a link to a discounted game after the deal has ended to go to a game that's full price. That's why it's YOUR responsibility to include and end date date for the deal in you post. The images you posted do not show when these deals end, you have to mention it. This is the part whare you have gotten a little confused. We WANT you to include links to the deals, it's kind of necessary, what we don't want is people posting misleading and/or dangerous links. I'm going to do a mock post of the Planet Coaster deal you mentioned to show you what I'm on about. You don't have to format you post on video game deals exactly like this, just consider this a guide. Hi VGR. Just saw this discount on Planet Coaster on Steam and wanted to share it. There is nothing wrong with including an image to show the offer. It's actually a good idea as it helps prove the offer's legitimacy and shows a lot of additional information. The image I have used I sniped from the game's sore page on the desktop app. That's a good place to take the shot from as the end date of the offer is actually displayed, so that base is now covered along with the item, the sale price and what website/store the offer is available on. You'll notice I still list those things anyway because it's a good habit. As you can see, the is a 95% discount on Steam running until the 30th of May 2024 (I highly recommend writing out an end date full like this including the year as somebody might come across this the years after it was posted and cause confusion. Use of a numbered date numbered date can also cause confusion as some counties format it differently than others.) bringing a £29.99 game down to £1.49 (Show the price as you see it on your local store page, let others worry about currency conversions. If you wish to show the price in another currency as a courtesy you can, I often do as I live outside the US, but don't consider it necessary.). Find the game on offer at this link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/493340/Planet_Coaster/ (This is the kind of link that IS allowed. The bare link that has not been shortened or hidden so the person reading can see it's genuine) This is a hyperlink. This tool is accessible in the tool tab above the text box by clicking on the icon highlighted in the image below. If you click on this, you'll find it still goes to the Steam store page for Planet Coaster, but it can be used to hide the destination URL, so these are NOT permitted in this sub-forum for security reasons. They are free to use elsewhere on the forum. (Shortened URL's like this one I generated that also goes to the Planet Coaster store page https://shorturl.at/KHXqj are also banned for the same reason, but unlike hyperlinks are not welcome anywhere on the forum.) To summarize: (This is something I like to do just to make sure I hit all the points) This is for the game Planet Coaster This deal is on Steam at the link provided https://store.steampowered.com/app/493340/Planet_Coaster/ The game is on offer at £1.49 instead of the usual £29.99 The Deal is on at the time of this posting and runs until the 30th of May (You may have noticed I didn't include the "required" start date. That's because the Steam page doesn't list it. Saying this can help get around that problem, but if there is no start date for the offer, you don't need to include it. Just be sure the deal has been made available at the time you post about it. However, for the reasons I explained earlier, the end date must be included.) This last part is fairly self explanatory. This policy of the these rules and guidelines being subject to change without notice applied both here and for our Overall Forum Rules and Guidelines, so try to remember to check in on these rules from time to time. I hope that clears everything up.
  9. There's a difference between a game that's easy and a game that's easy to play. That what these gaming elitist gatekeepers don't understand.
  10. I did a little homework, and I think the issue was "The Spacer's Choice Edition", what was to the The Outer Worlds was the Special Edition was to Skyrim, an updated version with the DLC included and better visuals. According to user reviews, it was badly optimised on both PC and console with little to no improvement in the visuals with some claiming it actually looked worse than the original. I guess I just wasn't paying attention when all of this was going on.
  11. Could you elaborate a little on that? The thing is The Outer Worlds has been, as far I'm aware, a generally well received game. For me, it's games that follow or at least resemble the "Ubisoft" style of open world. The concept is somewhat overused, I admit, but is still done in unique and creative ways, like in the Horizon franchise.
  12. I thought the answer would be obvious, but narrative driven games and any game heavy on problem solving.
  13. Honestly, no. I think certain people and fanbases say that to put down people for enjoying more mainstream and less complicated games. Soulsborne and CRPG fans I find are practically bad for this.
  14. With all due respect, the arrogance of some PC players astounds me. What is it going to take to make this portion of PC players understand that just because a game was originally on console that doesn't mean it will run on hamster spinning a wheel? Did you even look to see what the PC requirements were? Well, here they are as listed on Playstation's website and the performance you're getting with that hardware sounds about right to me, maybe slightly lower than it should be. And by the way, I'd hardly consider a 3070Ti a "beastly" GPU in 2024. I have this game on PC as well on inferior hardware to yourself (a laptop with a 2060, 24GB's of RAM and an Intel 10750H) and I get 1080p at around 40-50fps with medium-high settings. For a game with the kind of graphical fidelity and level of detail HFW has, I think that's superb. Based on that, I'd say this is a fantastic port, one of the best I've seen in a while. My advice to you would be to double check your settings because I think that's whare your problem might lie. For example, you have the wrong frame-gen options selected.
  15. @kensonplays We do have Guidelines and Rules concerning threads on this sub forum. These rules cover the allowed and disallowed content and format threads need to follow in this sub-forum are in place to prevent the posting of affiliate links and spam. Since this thread is clearly neither of those things, I'll take no action, but please read, understand and try to adhere these rules in the future.
  16. I don't mind games being hard, but I hate game's being cheap. Difficulty spikes are probably the cheapest programming tactic there is, I absolutely hate them. If there're not there in error, and they rarely are, it's likely I'll stop playing the game completely. They are so often used to artificially create challenge or pad out the length a game. One exception is Skyrim, more specifically battling mages. Magic in Skyrim is so horrendously balanced, especially at higher levels. Enemy magic get's insanely strong, whilst the player's magic just get weaker and weaker. If I'm going into a combat situation or dungeon whare I know I'll be dealing with hostile mages, I'll often turn the difficulty down in anticipation of what's coming.
  17. First and foremost, welcome to VGR. Moving this thread the the Video Games Sub-Forum as this topic is about a specific game and not a general gaming topic. I definitely agree this trailer is "all-too-short", it makes it difficult to even develop much of an opinion with so little to go on, but if this game is what I expect it could be interesting. Something similar to the old point-and-click puzzle games from back in the day. I'll keep an eye on this and decide later if it's for me once I've seen a little more.
  18. Yes they did, more specifically Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Games. I'd like to think due to the timing that Activision folded those studios into this new studio so those people are still employed, but given how this new studio boasts talent from Naughty Dog, Ubisoft and CDPR, that doesn't seem to be the case. It looks to me that those four relatively small studios have had the shutters drawn on them to fund this new studio, which is pretty appalling on Activation's part. Not that I'm surprised, Activision are a bucket of scum. The silver lining is that the focus of this new studio Elsewhere Entertainment will be on narrative games instead of the "live service" snake oil major publishers have been so desperately peddling the last few years. I'm sure Elsewhere Entertainment will make good games, but there will always be a bitter aftertaste to them. Like a baby with a birth defect, you love it all the same, but always regret it had to begin the way it did.
  19. Definitely the ugly house in a good neighbourhood. What's the point of a nice house you can't feel safe in?
  20. First off, welcome to VGR. We have a separate sub-forum set aside for people to share video game deals (That I have moved this thread to). Please post further offers you wish to share there and refer to the specific rules and guidelines for that sub-forum.
  21. Honestly, I've actually seen way more people piss and moan about the supposed backlash against the provocative character design in Stellar Blade than people actually complaining about the provocative character design in Stellar Blade itself, even amongst press articles. I'm sure if one tried to find it one would find somebody complaining about it, it is the internet after all, but I don't think it's been that big of a deal. It's certainly no reason to worry about censorship in GTA, an entirely different game series that has no relation to Stellar Blade in any way and is obviously catered to adults as well is being infamously provocative and controversial in concept. Not to mention that nothing in Stellar Blade has even changed as a result of this "backlash". In other words, nobody is taking away your tits and ass, and they couldn't if they wanted to, so calm the fuck down.
  22. I remember the announcement and the empty void of nobody caring that followed. Not exactly sad to see it cancelled.
  23. A three way tie between Friends, Brooklyn 99 and Red Dwarf for me. I tend to lean towards comedies that on paper should not work and those are three great examples of shows that had no right to be as funny as they were.
  24. What is it in the trailer that we've all seen that prompts censorship and political correctness to be such a concern? That paired with the content that made it into GTAV makes me wonder whare that concern has come from.
