killamch89 Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 I’ve noticed that many Nintendo games, especially ones like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, seem to have a difficulty curve that ramps up unpredictably. Some parts feel easy and relaxing, while others can get really challenging out of nowhere. How do you all feel about this? Do you think it adds to the experience, or does it frustrate you?
Scorpion Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 I see both sides! The unpredictable difficulty in games like Breath of the Wild adds excitement and keeps players on their toes. It can be frustrating, but the challenge often leads to rewarding moments!
killamch89 Posted March 25, 2025 Author Posted March 25, 2025 I find it frustrating sometimes. I love Nintendo’s games, but when I hit one of those sudden difficulty spikes, it can break the relaxing vibe the game sets up. It feels like the games are trying to cater to both casual and hardcore gamers at once, and they don’t always get the balance right at times.
The Blackangel Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 (edited) Sometimes it’s a good thing, but it can also be a real bitch. In my case for example, BOTW is both confusing and hard. I don’t know where the hell I’m supposed to go or what I’m supposed to be doing. I left Kakariko Village but even with the map, I don’t have a goddamn clue. Don’t get me wrong, the game is fun, but it’s starting to seem like a game that I would need a guide to. @Rain Dew isn’t a fan, and I’m not sure if it’s for me either. Don’t get me wrong, I love a challenge. But sometimes the game in question just goes over my head. It’s no fault of the game, it’s on me. But it’s frustrating as hell to not have a clue what I’m already doing and what I’m supposed to be doing. On the other hand, Mario Odyssey is pretty simple to me, and I do enjoy it, despite the fact that I don’t play it very often. Edited March 26, 2025 by The Blackangel
Shortie Posted April 30, 2025 Posted April 30, 2025 I have always been a gamer who loves the challenges I am faced with in games. I don't mind the whole chill side of things as that can be nice if you are looking to relax and not worry about anything. Having those challenges though I feel adds to the experience of the game and that is something I will always enjoy seeing in Nintendo games.
