killamch89 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 Do you prefer the comfort and protection of shoes, or do you enjoy the freedom of going barefoot? For those who prefer shoes, what type do you find most comfortable? And for the barefoot lovers, do you feel more connected to the ground?
The Blackangel Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 I grew up barefoot. I had shoes, but if I could be barefoot, I was. I went to school barefoot a lot, and even tried going barefoot to work. But that was shut down fast.😢
killamch89 Posted January 30, 2025 Author Posted January 30, 2025 I prefer the comfort and protection of shoes. My favorite type is sneakers because they offer great support for everyday activities. That being said, when I'm inside my house, I tend to walk around barefoot.
Anders Posted February 3, 2025 Posted February 3, 2025 I absolutely do not grasp the concept of Americans walking around with shoes on inside their homes. To me, that's pretty insane. I definitely prefer beeing barefoot at home, but I live in Norway, and my house is 45 years old, so when it gets cold I will usually put on socks, slippers or both.Â

I've been in a few log cabins over there and the wooden flooring in one of them was very rough and uncomfortable to walk in without shoes.
The Blackangel Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 (edited) It’s also a cultural thing. In some nations it’s absolutely unacceptable to wear shoes indoors. In others no one even notices. For example, when someone is here at our house, neither I nor @Rain Dew even think about it. It’s a million miles from our minds. If you want to take your shoes off, have at it. If you want to keep them on, have at it. Areas that have a cultural significance, such as Japanese areas always make sure to take their shoes off. If you’re going to be in an area like that, you’re REQUIRED to honor their ways. Or don’t go. But like I said, it’s not even in the realm of conscious thought here.
